Mary’s Secret Ingredients, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a limited edition culinary surprise box containing unique gourmet, artisanal ingredients along with small kitchen products. Boxes are sent once season and are limited to the first 100 subscribers.

The Box

Mary’s Secret Ingredients usually ships by the 25th of the month in which shipments occur. Meaning the November box shipped on 11/25 and arrived shortly after. An item in my original box actually leaked, so they resent me a new one.

Everything was very neatly wrapped in both this box and my original box. I am not even sure how there was a leak in the original box because everything was very safe and secure.

Mary's Secret Ingredients usually ships by the 25th of the month in which shipments occur. Meaning the April box shipped on 4/25, the June box will ship on 6/25, etc.
The Information Card

The Winter 2014 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box included the following items:

~Gran Luchito Smoked Chili Paste ($8.95): I am going to let B determine how to proceed with this one! It’s described as having “medium heat”, which to me is a lot!

~Dutch’s Spirits Bitters ($16.99): B took this set down to his bar area right away! He’s working on setting up his “12-Bottle Bar” as recommended by Bespoke Post and will be putting this to good use.

~Maddy’s Sweet Shop Peppermint Snaps ($3.95): These are so good! They are shortbread cookies (which I love) with peppermint crunch pieces inside. Yummy!

~PaperChef Lotus Cups ($7.10): Totally awesome. You can put these on a cookie sheet right in the oven and you’ve got basically nothing to clean up! And that is perfect.

~Peeled Snacks apple APLENTY ($7.99): I am going to send these off to work with B on Monday. I think that they look delicious, but I know he will enjoy them more than I would.

~Red Snapper Sauce Wildwood Arbol Sauce ($8): This is a Louisiana style hot-suace and also has “medium heat”. We get a lot of hot sauce it seems and I really need to dig up some recipes to use some of it in!

~SerendipiTea Holiday Cheer & Once Upon A Tea ($5): I think you know how I feel about tea by now, so it will come as no surprise that I will be passing this on to my cousin. She’ll totally love them!

All totaled I came up with a value of $57.98 for the Winter 2014 Mary’s Secret Ingredients. I liked the mixture of items in here and was very impressed that the value was well over two times the cost of the box!

What do you think of Mary’s Secret Ingredients? The Winter Box is sold out, but 2015 (Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter) boxes are still available and will ship in April, June, September and November, respectively! If you are interested in ordering, click here and get signed up!

You know what hot sauce is really good in? A pot of homemade clam chowder. I know it sounds weird but it’s really true. About a quarter teaspoon for the whole pot and it adds this amazing flavor and isn’t hot AT ALL.

This actually looks really good, and they offer a box free if you pre-buy a year
