Beauty Box 5 May 2015 Subscription Box Review

Beauty Box 5 delivers a sample box of all things beauty. Each box contains 4 – 5 samples of a variety of makeup, skin care, fragrances and everything in between!  Boxes are $12/month if you do a month-to-month subscription, however, I subscribed a while back when they had a crazy deal that brought the cost of an annual subscription down to $6.58/month.

The Box

Beauty Box 5 ships via DHL and took under a week to arrive.  They send tracking e-mails out, but I (still) can’t access my account online (I am not one of their BETA members) which kind of bugs me.

I received this box a few days ago and was totally unspoiled when I opened it up.

The Information Card

The May 2015 Beauty Box 5 included the following items:

~Bio Swiss Stainless Steel Mini Tweezer ($4.97): I am always losing tweezers so I was thrilled to see these in here!  They are mini (not that full-size tweezers are that large) so you can easily throw them in your purse or travel makeup bag.

~Essenza Luxury Hand Soap ($0.60): Not super exciting, but it smells good and does it’s job.  I don’t get a lot of hand soap on subscription boxes which makes it a nice change of pace.

~Styli-Style Blush Highlighter Stick (Bittersweet) ($5.99): This is described as a brown / pink, but it looks more orange at first glance.  But when you try it on it is indeed a deeper rose color.  I liked it much better on than I did in the package.

~Dermalogica Active Moist ($4.24): I have used some Dermalogica items in the past and have generally been happy with them. I am going to wait on this for a bit though or just use it when I travel because I have some other items I am currently finishing up.

~Coastal Scents Class/Synthetic Brush (~$2):I am oddly happy with this little brush!  It’s the exact type of brush I love and I won’t feel too badly if I lose it because it is so inexpensive!

All totaled I came up with a value of $17.80 for the May 2015 Beauty Box 5.  My super great Beauty Box 5 deal is ending and I don’t think I am going to renew.  I would if I could get the same price, but I am not sure I want to pay full price after getting such a great deal for so long.

Do you subscribe to Beauty Box 5?  What’d you get in your box this month?  I know there were some variations! I think they are making that thing about BETA members up. Their site has said that forever. And I have never encountered anyone who *could* access her account online.

I have an online account with them. I used the “chat” feature on their site and they helped me set one up.

I was able to set up an account and take the quiz by just asking. I believe the quiz helped since I get more makeup now. I really would love to get that deal you got! I did a 1 year sub to lower the price and don’t plan to renew at that rate. I prefer ipsy.

I always e-mailed them and complained about not having an account. They never offered me one. Every time I wanted order tracking (I ordered a couple of their one-off boxes) or to change my credit card number on file I would have to e-mail them. And it took them a long time to get back to me. I eventually quit after getting toe separators 2 out of 3 months I was subscribed. An account is really something they should offer to everyone. I remember having to send faxes or checks and wait for stuff to come in the early days of ordering on the internet (not from BB5 of course), but there’s really no excuse in this day and age to not have a login.

I received essentially the same as you did with the exception of the blush/highlighter. Mine is a bright pink color. I’m almost afraid to try it on it so bright.

I’m with you, this was a great subscription at $7 a box but my subscription ends with this month and I’m not renewing.

I got a bright pink blush too and like it! If you have cool/pink undertones, it works great. I just dabbed it on lightly, and it didn’t go on too heavily like that, and blended it in.

I cancelled my subscription. I can’t justify paying $12 a month for their box when ipsy and birchbox are $10 and are way better.
