Inside

I don’t have curly hair (mine it beyond straight) so I will give you more of a value / overview on these items so you know what to expect if you subscribe to Curlkit.  Here is what was included in the August 2015 box:

~Alikay Naturals Bentonite Me Baby (8oz / 236mL) ($6): This may actually be a product I want to try.  It’s a natural clarifier, used to purify your skin, hair and entire body.  You can use it as a face mask for a clearer complexion (yes please) or as a hair mask for defined curls.  All you need to do to activate it is to get it wet.  You leave it on your hair for 25-30 minutes or 5-15 minutes for your face.  That’s not too bad.

~Curls-R-Us Moisture Hair Lotion (8oz) ($13.99): This moisturizing lotion works to soften and condition hair while at the same time defining hairs.  It also resist humidity which I know is important.

~Creme of Nature Argan Oil Moisturizing Milk Masque (11.5oz) ($9.99): This masque is designed for all types of curls and works to strengthen, restore and hydrate distressed hair, preventing damage.  You apply it on wet, clean hair ad leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing out.  This smells great and has a pudding like texture.

~Blue Magic Argan Oil Herbal Complex Leave-In Conditioner (4.5oz / 126g) ($3.69): I did a little research on this one and it seems like the view on it are mixed. Some love it, some love it but don’t like the ingredient list (mineral oil/petroleum) and some just don’t like it.  It’s supposed to restore hair’s natural moisture balance while adding shine and softness.  Again this has a pudding like texture and is to be applied to towel dry hair.

~Organic Root Uplifting Shampoo (4fl.oz / 88.3mL) ($3.53):  This shampoo actually works for all hair types, but it’s not to be used on recently chemically treated hair. You are also supposed to do a test patch with it because some people may be sensitive to the ingredients in it.  I will admit, that scared me a little!  I don’t know that I have ever had to do a test patch with shampoo?  Anyway, I just dyed my hair so I can’t use this yet, but I am fascinated with it.  It is supposed to gently lift flakes and excess oils which stimulates and irrigates scalp and, in turn, encourages hair growth.  I will be giving this a try in a week or so!

~Amazing Botanicals Honey Condish (2oz) ($4.25): This conditioner is made with Wildflower Honey that is infused with Marshmallow Root, Chamomile, Plantain and Irish Moss.  It smells good and works to provide moisture to dry and brittle hair.  From the sounds of it online, some even use it as a styling tool in addition to being a leave-in conditioner.

~Creme of Nature 100% Pure Argan Oil & Argan Oil Perfect Edges (Sample): The final item in the box was two samples from Creme of Nature. One is a hair gel and the other is a treatment to help you retain moisture and revitalize hair.  The packets are single use, but seem to have enough to determine if you’d like it or not.

All totaled I came up with a value of $41.45 for the August 2015 Curlkit. That’s not bad at all for a $25 box. I actually expected the value to be higher though based on the sizes of the samples!  Although, I did use Amazon pricing (not Retail Prices) so that likely does make a difference.

Oh wow what an amazing box!!!! The price is right and the products are amazing. Cream of Nature and Blue Magic have been staples in my household since i was a kid and I love ORS products. I actually just used their relaxer system last night. If you have no one to share the products with I am always willing to take them off your hand.

I have thick, curly hair and as winter approaches I am thinking this might be a good box to try.

Thank you for explaining the billing cycle for Curlkit. I joined on January 4, 2016, received my first box on January 9, and was pleased with it. However, I was billed again on January 15 and promptly sent the company an angry email. I think that they should explain their billing policies to new customers. I now understand, because of your post, Curlkit’s billing schedule. Thanks for your clear explanation.
