The October Yummy Bazaar box was big. And heavy. Super heavy!

The Information Card

The October 2015 Yummy Bazaar destination was “Italy” and included the following items:

~Balsamic Vinegar Glaze Truffle Flavor by Acetum ($7.95): I can honestly say that I have never had a balsamic truffle glaze before.  According to the information card it’s good on grilled meat, grilled vegetables, cheese, salads and more.   I tasted it (alone) and it was good so I can only imagine how awesome it would be in a meal.

~Baci Chocolate in Champagne Bottle by Perugina ($20.49): When I pulled this out of the box I, at first, thought it was champagne!  But obviously they can’t send bottles of champagne in the mail so finding out it was filled with Italian truffles was just as good.  The truffles are dark chocolate and bits of hazelnuts topped with a whole hazelnut and them dipped in chocolate. As you can imagine, they are amazing.

~Baci Di Dama Cookies by Bistefani ($4.80): I love Italian cookies and when I heard that the October destination was Italy, I was hoping we’d get some cookies!  These are chocolate-filled hazelnut cookies and actually kind of look like mini hamburgers.  But taste amazing and I need to hide the bag so I don’t eat any more of them.

~Organic Pear Nectar by Alce Nero ($5.49): Apple juice boxes are everywhere, but pear juice boxes?  I have never heard of such a thing. L said he liked them, but I couldn’t get into them.

~Organic Croxetti Genovese Pasta by Alta Valle Scrivia ($6.83): Croxetti are little disk / coin shapes pastas.  I am addicted to pasta and am super intrigued by these.

~Puttanesca Tomato Sauce by La Reinese ($6.50): The information card included a recipe for Croxetti alla Puttanesca which uses this sauce and the above pasta.  The story goes it it was created by a restaurant owner in Southern Italy who told some guests he didn’t have enough ingredients to make them a meal because they were about to close.  The guests were insistent and told him to “make any kind of garbage”.  And so this was born.  I love the story and if the sauce is even 1/2 as good, we’ll be all set.

~Callipo Yellowfin Tuna ($2.65):All this tuna in oil I have been getting lately is spoiling me!  I am used to having tuna in water (which I like), but tuna in oil is something totally different (in an amazing way).

All totaled (according to the prices listed on the information card) I came up with a value of $54.71 for the October 2015 Yummy Bazaar. This was a really fun box and introduced me to a lot of new items that I could see incorporating into everyday eating!
