Package from Portland
Cost: $49/quarter.

Package from Portland is a “subscription box” company, shipping quarterly curated and themed packages of dry grocery items made in Portland, OR. Inside each package is 4-6 dry (full-sized) grocery items that are a part of a theme.
Package from Portland ships via USPS at the beginning of each quarter,.
I think Package from Portland is fairly new and I really didn’t know what types of items they’d be sending. Other than dry grocery items. I didn’t know if it would be like etsy type items or like more mainstream items.
The December 2015 Package from Portland box included the following items:
~Portland Bitters Project (SuperSpice 2oz) ($15) & Recipe Booklet ($5): We have received lots of bitters in the past and some boxes included a few recipes for how to use it, but this includes an entire little book! We received the “SuperSpices” bitters, but the booklet includes recipes for all of the different bitters offered. This will come in very handy in B’s bar.
~TreeHouse Chocolate Co. Drinking Chocolate ($14): Treehouse Chocolate is a premium drinking chocolate “crafted using organic cacao sourced from Oro Verde farmer owned cooperative in Northern Peru”. It’s popped up in a box here and there before but I have never received all of these flavors. I have tried the Original and the Camp so far and they are great. I am saving the others for when it gets chilly over the weekend.
~Albina City Nuts (Sweet & Salty Hazelnuts & Candied Pecans) (2.5 oz each) ($8): Albina City nuts are grown in the US and packaged in Portland, OR. I am normally not one to snack on nuts, but these Sweet & Salty Hazelnuts are amazing.
~Quin Candy Vanilla Bean Marshmallows ($3.99): I find these so odd. Not because they taste odd (because they are delicious),bur because of the shape. I always think of marshmallows as being cubes. These are like sticks. But they are better than regular marshmallows – no question.
All totaled I came up with a value of $45.99 for the December 2015 Package from Portland. It’s slightly under the cost of the box, but I never include shipping in my costs and some of these items aren’t available locally.
