The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring GlobeIn‘s favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures.
GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month. If boxes sell out before the 15th your subscription will begin the following month.
When possible, GlobeIn packages items from the box inside the basket that is included in every package.
~Wooden Photo Frame, Turkey ($15): This frame is handmade in Turkey using skils passed down from generation to generation. It’s 10x15cm or 4″x6″ and I am going to use it in our bedroom to frame a wedding picture of B and I. It will compliment our wood headboard nicely.
~Weekly Planner by Marie Mae Co. ($18): I am of the opinion that you can never have too many planners. This one allows you to fill in your own dates so you can start using it whenever you please and can even skip weeks in it when you want. For every product purchased, the Marie Mae Business school offers students one hour of training.
~Wooden Pencil Cup, Turkey ($15): This is another gorgeous piece! It’s handcrafted in Turkey and allows the craftsmen who create it to earn their living thorugh their art. I am debating between using this as a pencil holder or as a makeup brush holder.
~Mr. Ellie Pooh Elephant Poo Bookmark, Sri Lanka ($3): Yep, you guess it, this bookmark is made out elephant poo. We received a notebook in the Benefit Basket this month, so this is a nice add-on to that. Since elephants eat a purely vegetarian diet, their waste is basically raw cellulose and is able to be processed into a fine acid-free paper.
~GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico ($12): For now, GlobeIn is including a palm leaf basket in each of their boxes. This will change down the road as noted here. These baskets take hours to weave and can be used to store toiletries or on your counter for tea bags or coffee beans.
All totaled I came up with a value of $63 for the March 2016 GlobeIn Artisan Box. The value wasn’t substantial, but I thought the curation was great.
