The BookedBox March 2016 Subscription Box Review
BookedBox is a curated monthly subscription box that picks out books based on what you’ve read, genres you love, and any other reading preferences you might have. You can opt for one of three BookedBox options: The Barebones BookedBox ($15.99/month) includes one book, The Standard BookedBox ($34.99/month) includes (1) Hand-picked Book, (1) Literary/Art Magazine, and Assorted Book-Relateds Gifts or The Beefy BookedBox ($39.99/month) which includes two books based on what you’ve read, the genres you love, and what you want in a book. Each box will also include Assorted Book-Relateds Gifts. I received The Beefy BookedBox for review.

BookedBox ships on the 15th of every month. If you place your order by the end of the month your order will ship the following month.

The March 2016 “Beefy BookedBox” included the following items:

~The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley ($10.21): This doesn’t seem like a book I would traditionally go for, but after reading some of the reviews and the Amazon description I am super excited to get into it. From AmazonMaia D’Apliese and her five sisters gather together at their childhood home, “Atlantis”—a fabulous, secluded castle situated on the shores of Lake Geneva—having been told that their beloved father, who adopted them all as babies, has died. Each sister is handed a tantalizing clue to her true heritage—a clue that takes Maia across the world to a crumbling mansion in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Once there, she begins to put together the pieces of her story.

~The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman ($5.99): I have heard a lot about this book (it gets incredible reviews), but I haven’t read it. Again it’s not something I would normally select for myself (I tend to read more “fluffy” books), but all these reviews cannot be wrong so I will be getting started on this one shortly. From AmazonNearly 2,000 years ago, nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. According to the ancient historian Josephus, two women and five children survived. Based on this tragic and iconic event, Hoffman’s novel is a spellbinding tale of four extraordinarily bold, resourceful, and sensuous women, each of whom has come to Masada by a different path.

~Assorted Bookmarks, Stickers & Tea: The BeefyBooked Box includes an assortment of stickers (SO cute), bookmarks and tea.

~Temporary Literary Tattoos from Lithographs: I am not sure what I will do with these literary tattoos, but they might just be the coolest tattoos I have received in a subscription box.  I may give them to my cousin who is a librarian. I am sure she will have a use for them.

~Scrabble Magnets from Letters by Lilly ($9): These scrabble magnets are awesome! I tried for far too long to spell something with these tiles until I finally realized it was just a random assortment of letters.

I couldn’t do a full breakdown of the Beefy BookedBox, but I think it makes for a great way to try some books you may not have selected for yourself (at least this was the case for me) and I loved the extra book goodies they sent.
