GlobeIn Benefit Basket May 2016 Subscription Box Review
GlobeIn Benefit Basket ($19.95/month) is a monthly subscription box featuring one handcrafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan to give them global reach. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures. The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is a mini version of the popular GlobeIn Artisan Box ($40/month).

GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month.  If boxes sell out before the 15th your subscription will begin the following month.

The May 2016 GlobeIn Benefit Basket included the following items:

~Shibori Scarf by Matr Boomie, India ($25): This scarf was created using a traditional Japanese method known as Shibori, which is a process of dyeing cloth in which stitching, binding, folding and compressing are used to create geometric and tie-dye patterns. It’s an art that is passed down from generation to generation.  Matr Boomie, a wholesale fair trade collection, partners with women’s groups, minorities, people with special needs, etc. to empower artisans through dignified, sustainable employment.  I love the scarf and think the pattern is amazing!

~GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico ($12):  Every GlobeIn Benefit Basket includes the signature palm leaf basket.  Colors (and styles) do vary, but this is the “basket” portion of the box.  They can be used for anything from storing toiletries in your bathroom to using as a gift box.

All totaled I came up with a value of $37 for the GlobeIn Benefit Basket.  I loved the scarf in this one but I still do wish they would let long-term subscribers swap out their baskets every once in a while for a different item.

If you are interested in ordering, new customers can use coupon code “TRYBENEFIT” to get 25% off their first month of a 3-month GlobeIn Benefit Basket subscription.
