Hamptons Lane April 2016 "Pizza" Review + Coupon Code
Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.

Hamptons Lane ships in the second half of the month.

This box shipped at the end of the April and we couldn’t wait to get making this!

The April 2016 Hamptons Lane theme was “Pizza”. The information booklet includes a few recipes along with details on each of the products in the box. The box included the following:

~Tipo 00 Flour from Antimo Caputo ($3.49): We don’t typically make our own pizza dough, however, this may inspire us to do so more often. B used the recipe from the information booklet, and it worked out perfect. To make two pizzas, you only need 1 cup + 1tsp. of this flour so we have plenty left over for more.

~All-natural Pizza Sauce from Scarpetta ($7.95): This sauce was fabulous! It’s gluten-free, contains no preservatives and has no sugar added.  It’s very flavorful and maybe the next best thing to homemade? We made two pizzas and have enough left over to make at least 2-3 more. Once opened you do need to finish within seven days so it looks like we will be having pizza again soon.

~Custom Italian Seasoning from Raw Spice Bar ($2) & Active Dry Yeast from Red Star ($0.50): I want to mention that the MSRP’s that Hamptons Lane listed for these were, from what I can tell, higher than what they should have been.  Or at least higher than what I found.  I always use the online prices, though. Anyway, our active dry yeast package wasn’t labeled, but we figured out what it was.  The Raw Spice Pizza spices were fantastic. They were a blend of garlic, black pepper, sun-dried tomato, onion, oregano, basil, cayenne pepper, fennel, rosemary, and thyme.  Totally made the pizza!

~Pizza Peel from Epicurean ($30.25) & Pizza Cutter from Epicurean ($19.95): The pizza peel is made from an “environmentally friendly natural wood fiber pressed composite” and is “perfect for sliding pizza out of the oven or off a stone onto a tray”.  We had some trouble getting our first pizza off the peel (it didn’t slide easily), but it picked up our pizza off the stone no problem.  The pizza cutter was cool.  It doesn’t seem like it’d work (I wasn’t expecting it to), but it totally did.

~The Pizza: B made the dough for the crust the night before (Sunday) and then we all made the pizza together for dinner last night. We did one pizza with basil / tomato / mozzarella pizza and then did one with pepperoni in addition to the other items. We had a little bit of trouble getting the first pizza to slide off the board, so it may not have looked perfect, but it was delicious. The second pizza (the one you see below) worked perfectly. We didn’t have any issues at all and again; it was amazing.

All totaled the April 2016 Hamptons Lane box had a value of $64.14.  It wasn’t a incredible value, but we did love discovering these items and will use them all in our kitchen going forward and has inspired us to make more homemade pizzas!
