Hammock Pack August 2016 Subscription Box Review - "Massachusetts"

Hammock Pack is a monthly surprise pack filled with everything you need to take a much-needed getaway without even leaving your home. Boxes are geared towards women and each month you will receive a pack filled with a mix of food, bath products, housewares, and accessories that you’d only find if you visited that month’s destination city.  I subscribe to the “Regular” Box.

Hammock Pack ships via USPS Priority Mail and is supposed to ship around the 25th of the month. The July box shipped much later than that. No e-mail was sent out about the delay and no explanation was provided.

The August 2016 “Massachusetts” Hammock Pack included the following items:

~Smudge, Inc. Greeting Card ($4.50): I received the “Confetti Birthday Card”, but since the information card doesn’t specify I am guessing a variety of cards were sent out.  Smudge, Inc. prints their letterpress cards in Boston on FSC-certified paper made from 100% post-consumer waste.  The colors are bright and fun and who wouldn’t want to get this in the mail?

~Plum Island Soap Co. Shower Gel (Ocean Mist) ($12.75): This shower gel is infused with spearmint and peppermint oils and is designed to wake you up in the morning.  It smells good and I found it very refreshing!

~Lark Fine Food Coconut Butter Cookies ($6): Lark bills themselves as “cookies for grown-ups”.  These coconut butter cookies are rich and buttery and have just a hint of rum.  I think I would have preferred them to be just butter cookies (no coconut) though.

~Equal Exchange Tea Organic Rooibos Herbal Tea ($4.50): This tea is caffeine free and has the flavor of “almond paste, sweet cedar, vanilla and pine”.  This will be passed along to my cousin (as I don’t enjoy tea), but I hear great things about this brand. They work to further true fair-trade relationships that are beneficial to consumers and producers alike.

~McCrea’s Candies (Cape Cod Sea Salt) (~$2): I am always a fan of sea salt caramels in a box!  I have received these in other boxes and they are creamy and have the perfect amount of salt.

All totaled I came up with a value of about $30 for the August 2016 Hammock Pack.  That’s the cost of the box and about what I expect from Hammock Pack value-wise.  I do wish their boxes weren’t so food centered though so I think I will be taking a break from this box for awhile.

What do you think of Hammock Pack?  What city / state would you like to see them do next?
