Koala Crate September 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Code

Koala Crate is from Kiwi Crate’s line of crates and is designed for preschoolers ages 3-4.  The box includes all the materials and inspiration for projects related to a theme such as colors, transportation or safari. Crates are designed to give children exposure to new materials and new concepts that encourage hands-on learning and fun.

Koala Crate ships via FedEx Smart Post and usually takes about a week to arrive to me.

It’s rainy and icky here today, so it was the perfect time to work on this month’s Koala Crate.

The September 2016 Koala Crate theme was “Camping” and included three projects – “campfire,” “camping cookout” and “bear backpack.”

Project #1 – Campfire

“campfire” involved building your own campfire that lights up the night and cooks camping meals.  This project was low on the messiness scale, medium on the grown-up involvement scale and feature “moving – fine” and “discovering.”

W (my four-year-old) had some trouble getting the “fire” assembled, so I had to help with that.  We were both very happy with how it came out and thought the flickering tea-light was fun.

Project #2 – Camping Cookout

“camping cookout” involved making two tasty treats – a s’more and a hotdog.  It was low on the messiness scale, medium on the grownup involvement scale and featured creating and moving – fine.

As we were making our s’mores and roasting our hot dogs, we decided that we wanted a real s’mores!  It’s probably time to get up-north again and make this happen.

Project #3 – Bear Backpack

The third (and final) project was “bear backpack”. Your bear backpack is designed to use during your camping adventures.  It was low on the messiness scale, medium on the grownup involvement scale and featured “moving – fine” and “creating.”

We loved this one!  And look how cute it turned out!  I give it 10 minutes before W loads this up with cars – you know to take camping ;).

imagine! Magazine

As usual, the box also contained an “imagine!” magazine. It has puzzles, stories, games and other projects idea relating to this month’s theme.
