Bokksu ships via USPS by the 10th of the month. If you order on December 5th, your initial box will ship by December 10th, and you will be billed again on December 25th for your January 10th shipment. If you order on December 6th, your initial box will ship by January 10th, and you won’t be billed again until January 25th for your February 10th shipment.
The November 2016 Bokksu theme was “Japanese Folklore”. The box featured the following snacks which were related to folktalks and animals in Japan:
~Kitsune’s Tail by Akai Ribon: Kitsune’s Tail is a flaky pie topped with maple white chocolate and baked into the shape of a fox cub’s tail. The maple flavor was unexpected. Not necessarily in a bad way though, it was a nice surprise.
~Hakata Mentai Shrimp Senbei by Hakata Nubian: These were…..interesting. They are infused with “bursts of flavorful shrimp and spicy mentai (cod fish roe)”. It’s fair to say I wasn’t a fan. They taste exactly how you think they’d taste – like fish crackers.
~Kumamon Cookie by Hogaya: These cookies are baked into the likeness of the Kumamon Bear mascot from Kumamoto Prefecture. They come in two flavors – Original Butter and Chocolate and I found both to be delicious (and adorable).
~Saku Saku Panda by Kabaya Foods: Saku Saku means crunchy in Japanese and these are tasty little crunchy cookies. They are coated in chocolate and the inner cookie is chocolate as well. These were my favorite snack of the bunch.
~Dream Animals by Ginbis: I didn’t think these tasted much like animal crackers sold in the States. Dream Animals are more of a cross between a cracker and a cookie. They are thin and not as buttery. It’s a good thing they are labeled because there were a few I couldn’t identify ;).
~Tea: All Bokksu boxes also include tea to be enjoyed with your snacks.
