Orders arrive in a handmade wooden crate which is one of my favorite parts about Mantry.
One of my favorite parts about Mantry is the gorgeous wooden crate everything is packed in. We are using some as shelves, some for barware storage and my cousin is using some for planters in her garden.
The December 2016 Mantry theme was “South in Your Mouth.”
In addition to product information, the booklet also includes recipes and suggestions on how to use the products you’ve received. The December 2016 Mantry included the following items:
~Granola Jones Spice-A-Delic ($6.99): Wow! This is spicy! They said the heat index was high, but I thought, wait, how spicy can granola really be anyway? They were NOT kidding, though, my husband even thought it was spicy. It has hatch chiles and cranberries, but all I could taste was spiciness.
~Raaka Bourbon Cask Aged Virgin Chocolate ($8.99): This chocolate features cask-aged cocoa. The beans matured in Berkshire Mountain Distilling bourbon barrels. I would call it “smokey.” I am not sure how else to describe it. It’s not a chocolate bar you sit down and eat all at once. You only need a little to be satisfied.
~Pink House Alchemy Sarsaparilla ($13): Sarsaparilla is a root that grows in the hills and forests of the Ozarks and has an “earthy” flavor to it. I personally am not a fan of it, but B has made cocktails with it a few times and has enjoyed it.
~Red Clay Southern Hot Sauce Verde ($5.50): This sauce is a combination of Green Serrano peppers, cilantro, fennel and vidalia onion. It’s billed as having a “medium plus” heat and I would totally agree with that. I am thinking this would be great on eggs or maybe even on a burger? Just a little bit, though 😉
~Fox Point Farm Salted Vanilla Caramels ($8): Easily my favorite item in the box. They have just a hint of vanilla and are a great blend of creamy salted caramel. They aren’t too chewy or too hard, just perfect caramels.
~Parma Sausage Pepperoni ($14.25): Any sort of meat Mantry includes in boxes is always a winner. Always. We used this on pizza, but it would be amazing on a Charcuterie Board as well. Not overly spicy, but so flavorful and delicious.
All totaled I came up with a value of $56.73 for the December 2016 Mantry. This month was a fantastic mix of goodies. There was a little something in this box for everyone.
