I never know what the Smart Art project is in advance which makes it extra fun to open.

The January 2017 Smart Art introduced “Nero Oil Charcoal” and included all of the materials to Create a Charcoal Sketch.

The Materials:

The box included:
~Cretacolor Nero Deep Black Pocket Pencil Set ($15.95)
~Cretacolor Artists’ Pencil 3-Piece Sets ($12.99)
~Canson Artist Series Drawing & Sketch Pad (5.5″x8.5″) ($5.99)
~Artist Chamois 5″x7″ ($4.15)
~Artist Organizer Box ($4.19)

The Instructions / Suggested Project

The box always includes detailed instructions to complete the project.  Of course, you can also branch out on your own and explore with the materials.  I started this and realized that this is not the technique I am best at (which is why my project isn’t posted).  I did have fun with it, though, and it let me be creative, so it was still a win.  Plus how do you know if you love something unless you try it out?
