Stitch Fix Subscription Box Review - January 2017

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size (they also do maternity fixes), and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. You only pay for the items you love and decide to keep. There is a $20 styling fee which is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces.  If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. If you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything!  Stitch Fix is now offering exchanges for sizing as well. Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.  You have a few days to try everything on, and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.

Stitch Fix

Stitch Fix
shipped via USPS this month and took just a few days to arrive. Stitch Fix ships from a few different warehouse locations in the US and shipping varies between USPS and FedEx.

I always peek at my Stitch Fix once it ships.  I have no willpower at all ;).

Somehow I end up getting 13 Stitch Fix boxes a year instead of 12, so I labeled this one as January 2017, but I also considered my last Fix (which I received in December) as my January Fix.  I should be back on track for the rest of the year now ;).

My January 2017 Stitch Fix (which was Fix #41 for me) included the following pieces:

~Laila Jayde Malaga Drape Cardigan ($48): These style cardigans don’t typically fit me well, but I was surprised to find that this one did.  It might be the thinner material.  I am not 100% sure I *need* another deep purple cardigan, but I did consider keeping it. Verdict:Returned.

~Just Black Adorra Skinny Jean ($88): I need to add a “no jeans” note in my Fix because I just never end up keeping them.  I don’t dislike skinny jeans, but I don’t wear jeans enough to have a bunch of pairs.  Also, they bunched up around the knees which was odd.  I don’t know if that means they are too big / too small / too long (I know they aren’t too short), but that makes them a miss. Oh, and ignore my socks. Verdict: Returned.

~Pixley Ellie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse ($48): I love this print, but the cut / style of this shirt was not for me.  There is no give in the material, and it’s just not flattering to my body type.  And really, I don’t have anywhere to wear a blouse with elephants on it anyway, so it’s going back. Verdict: Returned.

~Page VI for Stitch Fix Kallon Drawstring Hoodie ($38): Ugh.  This is not flattering at all (it’s a little boxy and flares out at the bottom), and I don’t like the athletic stripes on the sleeves, but this is the softest sweatshirt I have ever touched.  I put it on expecting to hate it, but I basically never want to take it off.  Plus, after my styling fee it’s only going to be $18, so yeah, I am keeping it. Verdict: Kept.

~Loveappella Pola Pocket Knit Top ($44): Now this shirt was flattering (at least I felt like it was), but I didn’t feel like it was me.  I don’t wear much navy, and I am not sure about that hot pink pocket. Verdict: Returned.

I am keeping one item from this month’s Stitch Fix, so I am happy.  If I hadn’t kept the softest hoodie ever, I would have ended up keeping the cardigan so I wouldn’t have lost my styling fee either way.  I am going to tweak my profile a bit, and we’ll see what next month brings!
