Goodie Bags!

As you may (or may not) know, L’s 3rd Birthday is rapidly approaching. I wanted to make cake pops and bring them to L’s class for his birthday treat. Then I got to thinking that it was a tad on the crazy side since I have have never even tried to make them before and since I like things to look perfect, I may end up making cake pops well into the middle of the night for a bunch of three year olds to look at for two seconds and then shove on their mouths. So I decided to just to go the goodie bag route instead!

Some (alot) people ask what I do with all my Target 75% and 90% off clearance finds. Well, I either use them, gift them or donate them. When I can get a lot of the same item, I put them in goodie bags for L’s friends. I got the chalk during the after 4th of July sale last year, the twistables during the after Easter sale and the Play-Doh during the after Halloween sale. None of it looks “holiday’ish” at all does it? I picked up the bags in value packs (12 in each) at Target and used ribbon and paper that I already had to make the gift tags. And in order to make more work for myself, I had to make the tag color match the bag color. I was pleased I had similar if not totally matching ribbon for each of the bag colors.

L has a total of 16 (I made 1 extra bag, just in case) friends in his class. Had I paid retail prices, it would have cost:
Crayola Twistables: $4.99 x 16 = $79.84
Crayola Color Blender Chalk:  $4.87 x 16 = $77.92
Play-Doh: 1 X $6.99 = $6.99
Gift Bags: 16 x $0.50 = $8.00
Total: $172.75 or $10.80 per bag

But I paid:
Crayola Twistables: $.49 x 16 = $7.84
Crayola Color Blender Chalk:  $0.48 x 16 = $7.79
Play-Doh: 1 X $1.75 = $1.75
Gift Bags: 16 x $0.50 = $8.00
Total: $25.38 or $1.59 per bag

Such a great deal and I think I would have been pleased if I received this when I was 3!  And L was so excited to give them to his friends.  As we were going thru my stockpile, he kept telling me to give them more!

Do you make great goodie bags?  What do you put in them?  Have any of your children every gotten a fabulous goodie bag?  If so, what was in it??  Ohhh, and who has made cake pops?  Tell me all about it!
