Oh Walmart!

So yesterday afternoon, I ventured out to Walmart to pick up a few of L’s gifts that I had ordered online at walmart.com and had shipped to the store (i.e. so I didn’t have to pay for shipping). As I was waiting in the super long (and very very slow) lines, I realized maybe I should have spent the extra few bucks to get it shipped to my house. The lady in front of me also commented to the same thing. I was thinking it sounded a bit like a scavenger hunt to find the items in the walmart backroom (it was taking them forever to find stuff) and then I heard this:

WM Employee: “So is this all your items?” (while looking at the list of stuff she ordered and the stuff he’d gotten from the back”.
Customer: “No, I am still missing a throw and a pillow”.
WM employee: (Looking through packages in front of him – none of which were bigger than a book). “It’s not one of these”?
Lady: “No”.
WM Employee: “Okay, is that a video game? I will go look in the back.”
Lady: “No, it’s a blanket and a pillow. Like for your couch.”
WM Employee: (not the least bit embarassed or really even listening). “Okay, I’ll be right back”.

And that pretty much summed up the experience. Next time, I will for sure cough up the extra money to get it delivered to my house. 😉
