Mattel’s Power of Play

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

I was recently introduced to Mattel’s Power of Play Program via MomSelect. I had some idea prior to this that Mattel partnered with various organizations, but I had no idea to what extent. I was pleased to read and about the many partnerships Mattel has including ones with:

-Make A Wish
-Special Games
-Mattel’s Children’s Hospital UCLA
-Save The Children
-The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF)
-The National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI)

Mattel’s newest partnership is with Playworks. From the website: “With Mattel and the Foundation’s support, Playworks will expand its commitment to ensure every child has a chance to play through support of its elementary school programming in over 300 schools across the country throgh the Junior Coach program. Junior Coaches are an important element of the Playworks model because it encourages teams of students to understand fair play, conflict resolution and more.”

I think anyone with kids knows that with playing, comes conflict. Well, Mattel is pleased to offer a Coloring Page on their website which shares the following tips for promoting fair play:
Invite Everyone to Play
Share the Rules of the Game
Pick Teams by Counting Off
Cheer for Everyone
Rock, Paper, Scissors – A Fair Way to Decide

Want to learn more? Mattel has a great video you can watch!

Gotta go, it’s time to play!!!!!
