Freezer Meals

My trusty assistant.

With the help of my trusty assistant, I decided to make a few freezer meals yesterday. I know most people make these before the baby comes, but I wanted to do it the hard way and wait till I had two kids! Of course, most of these ideas were stolen from Pinterest, so I won’t waste my time sharing the recipe. Feel free to GTS(*).  I hooked L up with a few bowls, a can of shaving cream and all the food coloring a kid could want.  You can get things done a million times after if you have everyone well entertained (little W was napping).

Mixing away!

I cleaned and separated all of my chicken (I buy big bags of fresh chicken from the fancy meat / fruit store) and then put it into freezer bags (which I bought last year during Target’s summer clearance for 70% and 90% off – that should explain the summery pattern). Am I the only one that starts out with a normal sized chicken breast and then cuts off like 1/2 of it because it “looks” fatty or there is a hint of a vein in it? I’m pretty sure I cut off more than what’s normal. I had my computer nearby so that I could easy look up recipes and mix my sauces and stuff.

Labeled and ready to freeze.

I labeled all my meals with the date I made them, as well as, the instructions for cooking (I don’t like to leave anything to chance). Why bother taking the time to look up how long to cook it later?? I used Avery address labels, but I know they have Ziplock bags you can write on. However, they weren’t 90% off, so….

We both made a huge month.

Between L and I, we trashed the counter. But I think it only took and hour or two to get five meals frozen. That includes time spent handling food coloring spills and looking stuff up on the internet to figure out what to cook. Not too bad if you ask me.

More meals!

I made both crockpot frozen meals and “regular” frozen meals. I made Hawaiian Chicken, Chicken Tacos, Fajitas, and some other random chicken meals. Will they all taste good? Not sure. I know a few of them will, but I’m not so sure about the others. If they don’t, oh well, you gotta learn somehow!

Do you freeze meals? If so, tell me more! Do you have any great recipes you want to share??
