My (online) friends and I were talking about this the other night. Did you / do you or would you live with your significant other before you were married? Why or why not?
As for B, I lived with him before we got married. Sort of anyways. B lived in the (army) barracks when we met. At first he’d only spend the night on the weekends and then he started leaving clothes there and then basically all his clothes were there. He still had his place on base so if anything went wrong he could have easily bolted. Luckily though it didn’t and here we are! I will say that B moving in with me was super easy. He had no stuff. Being young and in the army does that I guess.
So I need to know, have you ever lived with a SO? Did it work out? Do you think that living with someone makes you more or less likely to get divorced? Or is it the same?
My answer was no I didn’t and wouldn’t but really I would have liked to pick I never have but I might if I were doing it again. We got married fairly young and our parents probably wouldn’t have loved it but if we were to do it again, I would probably live with him. I am certainly not against it, just never did it.

We too lived together before getting married… It started out just every now & then with his belongings being left here & there at my place & eventually he moved everything to my house. No regrets. 🙂 It worked for us.
I would but didnt because, well there were lots of reasons. The navy would be the main reason for not living together before we got married.
We did. Started dating in college and lived in the same dorm so basically together. Then we moved into apartments in the same complex so basically together again. Then once we graduated and my roomate moved out he moved in. We lived together offically for almost 7 years before we got married.
We lived together for 8 years before getting married. I’m not really sure why we waited so long, I guess we kind of had an “if it ain’t broke…” attitude about it. I don’t think I would have married someone without living together first. I would need to know what I was getting into…LOL.
I chose the option “Yes, of course I did.” But, I will say we never got married. We dated in high school and through 4 years of me going to college. We got engaged and moved in together but after 9 months of living together we split up. BEST decision ever on my part!
I lived with my husband before we got married and I am SO glad that we did. We had SUCH a rocky first year that I can’t even imagine adjusting to marriage as well. We lived together for about a year and a half before we got engaged and almost 3 by the time we got married. Now we just get to enjoy married life!
