I think I may have mentioned somewhere that I was considering canceling ipsy, but it appears that I prepaid for a year and cannot cancel. I tried. But once I got a glimpse of the October bag (the theme was Bombshell), I was so glad I couldn’t cancel. How flippin cute is that chevron bag? I more than love it.
Let me back up, in case you don’t know ipsy (which used to be MyGlam) is a monthly subscription service in which “subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.” And it comes in the cutest pink envelope.
Okay, now back to this month’s bag. Here is what I received:
~Couture Colour/Pequi Oil Treatment ($12): I am super excited to try this. It promises to “make hair 6X stronger, 3X shinier and visibly smoother after one application. Use it to nourish, stop frizz, seal split ends and boost colour”. Umm, sign me up. As you’ll recall, my September Birchbox contained a hair oil, so I am anxious to see how they compare.
~Coastal Scents Eye Shadow ($4): I received set #2 which included Bright Yellow, Jewel Green, Gypsy Gold and Dark Golden Olive. I really like this set and was pleased to see it in my bag. I will totally use all of these!
~Mirenesse Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer ($39): I received bomb #4, which I guess is what they believe I should wear based on my profile. It looks kind of sickly pink in the tube, but I would assume it would look much better on. It has too! I would have preferred a red and might just try and trade this.
~Be A Bombshell Eye Liner ($14): I don’t use eyeliner much, but I will if I am feeling fancy, so I’m game to get this. I’m probably not as excited as everyone else though.
~theBalm What’s Your Type? “the body builder” Black Mascara ($5.54): Out of all make-up products, mascara is my favorite. I have never tried theBalm mascara, so I am looking forward to this. I don’t have a holy grail mascara (it changes a lot), so who knows, maybe this is it?
~Chevron Bag ($5): I estimated that since it’s not for sale. Although I LOVE it, it’s small, so I wouldn’t pay more than $5.
Unlike Birchbox, everyone receives the same products (save for some color preferences), so there is no complaining about how so and so got a better box. I really enjoyed this month’s contents as did basically every other ipsy subscriber out there. I think the full size items get people super excited and heck, why wouldn’t they? I mean, the bag costs $10/month and this months contents totaled $79.54.
Do you subscribe to ipsy? What’d you think of this month’s bag? If you don’t subscribe and want to get on the waiting list, click here.
So glad you got your bag. I love mine. It was my first one and I’m definetly keeping it for awhile. 🙂
Just recieved my first bag, and I think its great. I too really liked the colors they sent me. Its funny you mentioned the pink envelope, I thought it was the cutest thing ever. And FYI, I dont love the mascara… I found it quite lumpy and unatural looking!
I just wrote a post on my blog about glam bags. I was considering re-subscribing to ipsy again. I cancelled my subscription a couple of months back because I was disappointed in their bags. I’m glad they’re getting better and hopefully I find more great reviews.
Love your blog & I hope you check mine out: http://www.mjloves2loveu.com.

The worst bag and contents ever for their July products….too many cremes ..oils and balms…..MAKEUP is what I like….honestly ipsy is getting too far away from facial products which is why I was always excited to get the glam bags…if this trend continues I might have to go elsewhere..how about eyeliner..mascara..brushes…blushes..shadows that aren’t samples….lipsticks????
