A few weeks ago I was asking a friend of mine where a certain place she’d been to over the weekend was. She had no clue. I was like what, did you have your eyes shut when you were driving there? And she replied “are you kidding, I wasn’t driving, do you???” And it dawned on me that no, I NEVER drive when I am out with B. Never. I’d say that, in the what seven years I have known him, I have driven with him in the car less than a dozen times. And half of those (including the horrible trip home from Wisconsin after his brother’s wedding where he spent eight hours vomiting in the backseat with L mocking him) were when he was drunk. I prefer to spend my time in the car playing on my iPhone or talking to the kids or staring into space or whatever. And B thinks I am a horrible driver (this is simply not true but whatever), so he prefers to drive.
In fact, when I see woman driving with their husband in the passenger seat, I wonder what is going on. When it comes to driving, I pretty much pretend it’s 1950 and that only the man can drive.
So I gotta know, when you are out with your husband / boyfriend / baby daddy / one night stand / whatever, who drives?
Other: depends on which car we’re driving. If we take my car then I typically drive (around town). If its his truck then he drives. If its a long trip then he drives and I’ll help cover some shifts so he can rest and it gives me something to do.
Dustin makes me drive most of the time because he seems to not know how to get anywhere even if we have been there lots of times. He also has really bad eyes and refuses to get glasses again so he squints at all the road signs. He thinks I’m a bad driver but insists I drive all the time.
My husband likes to bitch and moan that he always drives everywhere, yet every single time I offer to drive he says no. So yeah, he drives everywhere when we’re together. I think I made up for it though when I drove the kids 5000 miles to Washington & back without him during the summer ;-).
We take turns (bc I actually like to drive) but Id say 95% of the time he drives.
Most of the time my husband drives. I drive when he is tired or not feeling well… but 97% of the time .. he is the chauffeur. :o) Also depends on which car we are out and about it… I love to drive his car, even though it is a wagon. It doesn’t “feel” like a mom wagon. 🙂
My husband drives. We just got back from Disney and in the whole trip I drove maybe 2 hours on the way down there so he could take a nap. He doesn’t mind my driving but like you I always seem to have other things that can get done in that time so I let him do it.
