B’s November Birchbox Man came yesterday (i.e. in October). How crazy is that? It’s safe to say he was excited to find that surprise in the mail! November’s theme appears to be simplify. The card says: “This month’s assortment is designed to help you streamline and scale back.” Nothing wrong with that? Although it went on to say “This month, we say donate some old clothing, swap out your overstuffed wallet for a slim card sleeve, and focus your efforts on growing and grooming a mustache to support men’s health.” B has been threatening to grow not just a mustache, but a FULL beard. Oh my. This little Birchbox suggestion is not going to help. And how can I complain when every ‘stache that is grown contributes to the fight against men’s cancers? I really can’t. So grow away baby ;).
Let’s get to the contents. It kinda looks a little messy? I think that’s because the “big” item was small in size, so it just rolled all around while it was on its way here.
And here is what this month’s box (B got Box 3) included:
~Atelier Cologne Vétiver Fatal ($70): I always hope that I am not going to like the cologne samples that they send, but of course, I always do. And this is no exception. Will it be B’s signature cologne? Not sure about that, but I do like it!
~PETER THOMAS ROTH Mega-Rich™ Shampoo ($18): B loves getting shampoo (and conditioner samples) in his boxes. And this is a great sized one. Way better than the packet samples he has gotten in previous boxes. Not that those are bad, but these are much easier for him to throw in his gym bag.
~PETER THOMAS ROTH Mega-Rich™ Conditioner ($18): I think it might be the Birchbox law that if you get a shampoo you must also get the conditioner. If anyone has ever gotten one without the other, I would like to know. Oh and B says he has used PETER THOMAS ROTH products in the past. At hotels. Not sure what fancy pants hotels he stays at, but I know one thing, I don’t get to go.
~Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser ($32.95): I am not sure that B has ever got an exfoliating product in his Birchbox, so I personally was excited to see this. I know he will use it and I am 100% certain this is something that we will be ordering with our points.
~John Allan’s Cool Face ($23.50): I shave so I have no idea if this is a necessary man’s product. I know that B will give this a try and I am sure he is pleased it’s not shave cream or oil or whatever because he only uses those when they come in his Birchbox.
~Old Calgary Oxford Wallet ($25): I am kinda just meh about this. It looks cooler than it is. It’s kinda deep, so it’s hard to get things out? Although I guess that is good too because things won’t just fall out. B already uses a “streamlined” money clip / credit card holder, so this is kinda useless as a wallet. Also, this is kind of big? Thicker than his current set-up that’s for sure. Still if he can’t find a use for it (maybe holding business cards and or rewards cards and leaving it in his car at all times), I will use it to hold gift cards or something. My bags (diaper and hand) could certainly use a little streamlining.
Overall, this isn’t our favorite Birchbox man box, but it’s not an horrible box by any means. And if you think it totally sucks, get out your whisky stones from last month’s box, pour yourself a glass of whatever you ordered from Caskers (we got General Starks vodka) and drink your face off (*). Your box will look better I swear ;). If you (or your man) subscribe to Birchbox what’d you think of this month? And if you don’t subscribe, click here to sign-up!
(*) I am sure you know I am kidding (sort of), but I feel I should say it anyways.
