Monday Morning Ramblings

~We spent the weekend laying low and did a lot of playing trains and getting things done around the house. B caught what L had (well has) and actually admitted he felt like crap (which is rare because he never complains), so he got a few naps in and basically spent the weekend laying low. B also loaded a few dvd’s on L’s iPad that L has been wanting him to do all week. It’s sorta hard to explain to a 4 year-old that things things don’t just take 5 minutes. We got the rest of our patio furniture delivered (the table and a replacement chair) and made a trip to Toys R Us to use some reward coupons before they expired, but that was about it. Boring. Oh, we watched “End of Watch” which I loved because I love me some Jake Gyllenhaal.

Important Work

~I was all excited to watch Adam Levine on SNL on well, Saturday night and then it dawned on me. Umm, I can’t. I haven’t gotten an antenna yet, so yeah, I can’t watch anything live. Minor problem. Whatever, I watched it last night on Hulu and it was so worth the wait. I was cracking up at the Catfish skit.  Hilarious.  I doubt we will ever go back cable. Once we get an antenna (and I can talk B into climbing on the roof and putting it up) we will be all set.

~I had heard about Diamond Candles, but had totally forgotten about them until Courtney over at CallingCourtney posted a picture on Instagram the other day and it totally reminded me that I *need* one.  I mean there could be a $5K ring in that sucker!!!    Hopefully B reads this post (*) and “surprises” me with one for Valentine’s Day!  Have you ever gotten on?  What ring did you get??  Oh, and I posted something in a thread on Sneakpeeq asking if anyone had tried this candle.  Meaning any of my friends since it posted to my FB wall.  This lady responded “UMM HELLO, I think we all have..that’s why we are commenting here…” and then went on to tell me what a waste they were.  Umm, hello, I didn’t realize it would also post on the Sneakpeeq page.  Thanks for being so d*mn rude about it.

~It should be another exciting mail week (or two) around here as I am expecting GLOSSYBOX, SpiceBox (you *might* not want to GTS at work), The Little Book Club, bluum (if they’d ever ship), Birchbox Man, Graze (click on my link and you’ll get your first week free), and Loot Crate. Lots of new boxes to check out(**) and I am super excited. I love digging into boxes that are a total surprise! Oh, and And I bite the bullet and bought a Pink Fancy Box Subscription. At $39/box, it’s spendy, but I really want to try a Fancy Box and I’d love to see what Pink puts together, so I couldn’t resist!  I also ordered L a few months of Citrus Lane since they now offer boxes for kids up to age 5.

~Does anyone know of a company who will scan in your old pictures (Polaroids, reg. printed pictures, slides, etc.) and turn then into, well, a digital library? Like have you ever used a service like this?  What’d you think?  Was it expensive?  What was the turn-around time?  I found a few online (Digital Memories and Fotobridge), but want to know if anyone has actually used them?

~B and I have a new game we’ve been playing in the house.  Much like the garbage game(***), it involves trying to make the other person do all the chores in the house.  This new game involves the dishwasher.  It’s always clean, but if you OPEN it and find it clean, you HAVE to unload it.  I don’t know who made that rule, but it’s a rule.  To win the dishwasher game you must try and eat slowly, avoid picking up people’s plates from the table and offer to make dinner, not clean up after dinner.  It’s a very fun game.  If you win of course ;).

~And finally, I don’t really get what in the world this “The Vine” app is all about, but as soon as I heard about it rushed to try and sign up.  Then I realized, umm, I don’t want to share videos with people, nor do I want to watch videos other people share.  And if I did, I would, umm, watch YouTube?  No offense to anyone that does them, but I don’t even like vlogs.  I try to multi-task and watching a vlog doesn’t really work when you are trying to also watch trashy tv.

(*) He typically does not read my blog.
(**) Reviewing subscription boxes is awesome.
(***) You know, when you try and fill the garbage up to the tippy top without it spilling over so the next person to throw the tinest thing away has to take out the trash and replace the bag.

OMG. You “shouted me out” & I’m nobody! LOL. I feel famous, and it’s Monday so that’s a plus. I got the email for Pink’s FancyBox last night and ordered, too! I also got Ashton Kutcher’s email from FancyBox a few weeks ago and ordered that too. It was $45. I read a ton of reviews on the Diamond Candles and watched a few “ring reveals” I like the idea but I’m less inclined to purchase one when some of the candles apparently don’t even throw scent? Oh! And I started watching PLL yesterday afternoon…I’m on episode 7! Love it! It sorta reminds me of Gossip Girl (which I loved). Oh and I got to work this morning and my PS box arrived Saturday….late much. I got the blue watch, too. 🙁

OMG you are so funny!!! I can’t wait to get the fancy box. I couldn’t help myself. And, umm, I have never watched Gossip Girls either. Ugh. The shame.

Oh! You’ve got to watch it Netflix has all the seasons except the current one which is on Hulu. I’ve never watched this Catfish you speak of, so I am going to try that next!

I can’t wait to read all your reviews of those new boxes. And I am trying Bluum Toddler, but I am getting really irritated that my January box won’t arrive until February. What have they been doing for the last month and a half since they sent out boxes in December? I am also interested in seeing more of the new Citrus Lane boxes, including the ones for the older kids even though I don’t have one. I ordered a Loot Crate for a friend of mine’s husband for his birthday and it is pretty hit or miss depending on what video games you enjoy. Also, I played the garbage game all yesterday and finally was victorious last night! Yes! The dishwasher game sounds fun too. I will have to give it a try. 🙂

I know. Where is my bluum box???? This happened in November too!

      Congrats on the garbage game!!!!!!!!

I love your office so much. Can you email me the links to the posts you did on it way back when? Not sure how to find. Thanks!!

I can’t wait to read all the reviews on your new boxes. I recently cancelled a couple of mine so I”m looking for some new ones to try out. I’ve read about Spice Box and I know my hubby would be down with that one 😉 hmm so many choices right now.

    1. Jennifer

      What’d you cancel??

      1. Jenny Louthan

ok how do I see that you are commenting on my comment? Is there a way to be notified? I was just randomly looking through your posts and saw it. Wondering now if you might have commented before.

I cancelled Citrus Lane since I already have an older boy alot of what I was getting for C was duplicate type items of things I already have. I’m thinking of maybe trying one of the other kiddie ones. I also cancelled Nature Box since I have bags of the snacks I’m not eatting so I don’t need anymore. I’m thinking of cancelling PopSugar and trying one of the other boxes like it. I’m just trying to decide if I want to give it one more month. I was happy but not blown away by this months so I’m on the fence. I’m also thinking of dropping birchbox once I use my points. I need to get one more month for the point jump and then cashing out and maybe try another beauty type box. I love my Ipsy so I’m going to keep that. hmm I feel like I have another one I’m forgetting but I’d have to look at my list to see what it is.

        1. Jenny Louthan

oh I have some wittlebee credit so I’ll get at least another box from them. I like that we can skip months so I can get one every 2-3 months and switch between myboys and stuff. I did put my name on the waitlist for Sweet Pea Box which is another kids clothing box that is launching so I might give them a try depending on when I get off the waitlist.

I’m dying to see what Fancy box is all about…. I want to subscribe so bad….I think I may cancel a few boxes to try Fancy out, but I will wait to see what you get first!!!

Fairly new reader here, so forgive if I missed something…

By playing trains, do you mean toy trains or model trains? If you’re looking for cool model train stuff, my husband handmakes model train track.
