February Kiwi Crate

L’s Kiwi Crate gift subscription ended last month, but we loved it so much we decided to renew. February’s Kiwi Crate theme is “Playful Pets” and included two projects “my playground” and “my pom pom pets“.

First Look

I think since we resubscribed, somehow they thought were were new subscribers so we got a new pair of scissors. L was thrilled.

And just like last month, we started on the projects right away! L has been playing outside more, but it’s still cold out and we do need to take some breaks and play inside every now and then!

Project #1:

project #1: my playground
my playground: the materials

The first February Kiwi Crate project was “my playground” and included everything you needed to build your own toy playground. The project was low on the messiness scale and high on the grownup involvement scale. I actually found it more than a little messy because cardboard dust gets all over! This project involved caring, creating and communicating.

Testing out those scissors.

L and I did this project equally, but anything that needed the use the scissors, he was all over. Oh, and I’d never heard of glue dots before Kiwi Crate, but I am obsessed with these suckers. Genius. Total genius. I am assuming to can buy them at the store? I need some.

Loves it!

We loved the “my playground” project and I gotta say, I was impressed at how sturdy everything was. That’s some serious cardboard! I think L wants to do some more decorating with this and get his lego guys and play with them in here too. I love how kids think. They’ve always got a plan!

Project #2

project 2: my pom pom pets
my pom pom pets: the materials

The second February Kiwi Crate project was “my pom pom pets” and included everything you need to create your own fuzzy pom poms. This project was also low on the messiness meter and was medium on the grownup involvement scale. It involved moving – fun, creating and caring.

My creation

I wasn’t exactly sure about this product. It kinda seemed too good to be true. I mean if it was so easy, why haven’t I tried this? L wound the yarn on the winder, I tied the pipe cleaner super tight and we cut the edges and boom, it was done. And it was perfect. This is now my favorite Kiwi Crate project to date! LOVE IT! This would be such a great project for a a play date or a party or something.

So proud!

Umm, tell me we didn’t do a great job. We will certainly be making more of these little guys. And next time we’ll mix up the yarn color and make multi-colored fuzzy friends. I cannot say enough good things about “my pom pom pets”. We loved it.

explore more ideas

I loved this month’s explore more idea, which included turning your Kiwi Crate into a “DIY Playhouse”. You know, a little house for your pom pom pals. We haven’t done this yet, but we totally will. Such a great idea to reuse the box and it fits right in with the theme!

If you don’t already know, Kiwi Crate is $19.95/monthly and is geared towards kids ages 3-7. L and I have done most every project we have gotten in our crates so far and have always been entertained with them. You can go to the Kiwi Crate website to order your crate subscription! And you can also order single crates, so if there was one you are disappointed that you missed, you still can get it! LOVE this! If you still aren’t sure about it and want to check out more reviews (by me), click here and you can see all of the previous boxes we received.

Do you subscribe to Kiwi Crate? What’d you think of this month’s box? Did you love it as much as we did?
