Julep Maven Bombshell Introductory Box Review

Julep Maven – Bombshell Introductory Box

My highly anticipated Julep Maven box arrived yesterday! If you aren’t familiar, monthly Julep Maven boxes will feature over $40 worth of never-before-released polishes, cutting edge treatments and cult favorites, including at least two seasonal and style-specific nail colors. Boxes are $19.99/month, BUT you can get your first box for $.01 ($4 with shipping) using code: JULEPVIP.

The Box

According to the style quiz I took, I got the “Bombshell” Introductory box. Well, actually, I got some other one, but I went and changed my answers until I got the box I liked best.

First Look

There was no information card with the contents on it, but then again, I don’t need something explaining to me what to do with nail polish. Here’s what was inside:

~Chelsea – Bombshell ($14): This color, which is a “violet, silver and purple multi-dimensional full coverage glitter” is the reason why I picked the Bombshell started box. I am obsessed with glitter polish and this is certainly no exception. It looks even better in person than it does online!

Chelsea – Bombshell

~Kathleen – Bombshell ($14): Kathleen is a beautiful “honey gold flecked champagne shimmer” and I have nothing like it. Someone please, please, please come to my house(*) and force me to paint my nails at least once a week (**). Please! I have so many beautiful colors and I WANT to use them all!

Kathleen – Bombshell

~Julep Essential Cuticle Oil ($12): I love cuticle oil and what it does, but I am not 100% sure about the rollerball applicator that the Julep oil has. I tested it out and it’s okay, but it’s not the dropper or brush I am used to. Maybe I will get used to it!

~Julep Daily Defense Lip Balm ($6): I am addicted to lip balm and like to have one in every room, bag, drawer, coat, car, table, etc. so this is perfect for me!

The verdict on my first Julep box?  I love it!  I paid $4 for a box filled with $46 in products!  Pretty cool right?  If you want to learn more, or are interested in signing up, click here.  And don’t forget to use code: “JULEPVIP” so you can try your first box for $4 ($.01 for the box and $3.99 for shipping) too!

Ohhh, and I almost forgot.  Julep sends out “Golden Boxes” to random subscribers every month (in place of their normal monthly box) which contain up to $200 in products.  I am SO hoping I get a golden box one month.  How amazing would that be.  I have seen some pictures and they look amazing!!!

(*) Not really because that would be creepy.
(**) I actually painted my nails like two seconds after I wrote this post. See my Instagram feed!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! 🙂

Hahaha! I love that you switched your answers to get the box you liked best. That is totally something I would do!

You sucked me into another box!!! I received my started box yesterday and got a pretty grey polish that I’m actually loving and the purple bombshell polish you received. I might actually keep this subscription!

  4. Absolutely love the “Kathleen” color!

I like painting my nails and have lots of colors I like, but I always have to plan for 2+ hours of not being able to touch anything to be able to complete the project. Gotta put on the hoodie and sweat pants, eat a substantial snack, double tap on the bathroom trips, get the polish remover ready, and open any jars that will need my attention for the rest of the evening. I can’t imagine trying to add “make sure the kids are still alive” to that list.

  5. I already do Birchbox, but I’ve been seeing this one around. If the first box is only four dollars and you get all that. Then I may just have to sign up. Thanks for letting me know about this because I need my fix of glitter nail polishes too.

So funny that you changed your quiz answers to get the box you wanted, as I did the same thing! I’m not big into glitter polish as I have a hard time getting it off my nails. Let us know if it’s easy to remove and maybe I’ll give it a try. Such pretty colors!

I received a code in my email after I signed up to the website but didn’t purchase my first box right away. I was able to get my first box (Classic with a Twist) + 2 more colors with the code ‘FREEGIFT’. I ended up getting the first box that was mentioned that was mentioned in the blog and got to choose an additional two more colors all for $2.99 + $4.00 for s&h. I hope this code works again for others that are looking to try out Julep! ps. I absolutely adore the Kathleen ? Bombshell color! That was one of my extras 🙂

@Kellyann: That sounds like a great deal; did you have to use both codes (JULEPVIP and FREEGIFT) to do that? Are you actually able to use two codes at once?

      1. Sandra

@margie: I this post is from a month ago, but I’ll mention that this code is not valid.

        1. Rebecca

@Sandra: This is very old but I wanted to tell whoever is reading this that the code FREEGIFT works again now – I just got the starter kit and 2 polishes for $9.99 using it!

Thanks for the $4 code tip! I used your referral link and am looking forward to my first box!
