~It has come to my attention (*) that I am NOT going to be able to learn Photoshop on my own. Umm, it took me an insane amount of time yesterday to figure out how to make a picture into a circle. So I am in need of some sort of tutorial. Hopefully free. Don’t be all “look on YouTube”. How about you tell me exactly who on YouTube I should be checking out?
~I have mentioned this before, but it is troubling me yet again. Why in the world must cashiers scan my CVS / Kroger / whatever card FIRST? I know that it works just the same if they scan it before they ring my items up, while they are ringing them up or after they ring up my items. But no, let’s just wait while I unload everything on the counter, dig in my bag and find my card. And try and make sure my kids aren’t stealing that candy they put right at kids eye / hand level.
~I want to get some business cards for my blog and want to know where the best (and cheapest) place to get some would be. I know Vista Print does some free ones (or super cheap or something?), but I had WB’s birth announcements printed there and I am still annoyed they sent me the wrong size envelopes. Umm yeah, those 5×7 cards won’t be fitting in those 4×6 envelopes.
~Back when L was a baby (an infant, so like 4.5 years ago) I somehow hurt my wrist picking him up. Like I twisted it or something. It hurt super bad. Of course, I never went to the doctor because why would I want to get it fixed? I like it when it hurts when it rains and stuff. And I can tell if didn’t heal right because it like pops. Unlike my of other ailments, I did not consult Dr. Google on this and do not plan too. Dr. Google serves me well and always confirms what I already know. That yes, I do have the rarest more incurable disease / tumor known to man. I believe he will tell me that this is going to require surgery and yeah, I ain’t got time for that.
~And finally today, I am beyond troubled with the posts on FB that require you to post “1” or “Like” it or whatever to see what happens next. Umm. Nothing is going to happen. It’s Facebook. What on earth could possibly happen? The picture isn’t going to suddenly change or start moving or anything. No. The only thing that is going to happen is that the person that started the post gets a good laugh for every person that hits like. Oh maybe they are collecting names for a scam down the road?
You know, I am going to make this a weekly feature. I always feel so much better after I get this all out! Phew! Now, what’s troubling you today? First world problems or real problems, share away!
(*) I pointed it out to myself.
I think our local library has free Photoshop workshops every now and then. I’ve also seen them advertised on Groupon but I think they just send you a bunch of videos so that might not be helpful.
it took me a looooooooooooong time to figure out photoshop. and i still only use a fraction of what it can actually do. i did find that googling how to do certain things helped. lol. let me know if i can help at all!
I hurt my back exercising yesterday…. oh and I find myself slowly falling off the weight loss bandwagon… I’m an inch and half from zipping up my wedding dress and three inches from fitting in it comfortably yet I kinda just want to throw in the towel. I won’t let that happen but at the same time I’m just really tired of trying to watch my calories and make sure I burn enough… Is there an easier way???
Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book. You should be able to find it for whatever version of PS you have. I used this for my photoshop class. It comes with a CD of the images you’ll be working with. Goes through step by step on how to do things, gives you the basics. I just looked on Amazon, and you can get the Cs5 used book for like $12 bucks. Just another option in case you don’t find any suitable tutorials. 🙂
I love Vistaprint. I’ve been using them for years and never had an issues. I’ve probably ordered 10 boxes of business cards. They are super cheap and if you sign up for their mailing list, they send you a ton of emails for free stuff. Sorry they screwed up the announcement envelopes though, that stinks.
Check out Moo Cards (http://us.moo.com/). They have different sizes for business cards, and the pre-made designs are really cool. They aren’t out-of-this-world expensive either!
I know how to scare you into going to the doctor….if you keep waiting on all those little things you will end up like ME by the time your kids are in high school…some days I feel like I’m 80!! Lol….
I purchased my last round of business cards from lecards.com They have a sale 250 for $10. Good quality cards. The free cards from vistaprint are okay, BUT they include a line from vistaprint on the back…so free isn’t really always free.
I gave up on Photoshop. 🙂
I also didn’t have good luck with Vista Print when I ordered my wedding invites from them. They started charging me a monthly fee when I didn’t sign up for anything like that.
Re: Vista Print…I ordered 40 birthday invitations just a few weeks ago and they sent me 10 envelopes instead of 40. I contacted them to ask if they could send me my 30 additional envelopes and the rep apologized and told me stuff like this RARELY happens. After hearing your story now I’m not so sure…
Okay I’m so glad you posted this about photoshop. I almost ordered it this a.m. Screw it. I’m sticking with the free editing software for now. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Yes, all of those “click like watch what happens” irritates me too. I just have to laugh at my friends who actually do it. Its like all those old email chain letters: Forward this to 20 people and Bill Gates will donate a million dollars! I also get really tired of the ones that say something like “I believe X and if you believe X then you will repost this. I bet none of my friends will do it!”. Sigh. The more things change…
I used Photoshop every day and I’ll never learn it all! It frustrates me to no end.
I’ve used Vistaprint for party invites for the last 7 years with no problems. I don’t like to go “cheap” on business cards though, so for that we use moo.com. They allow us to have up to 50 different images on the front of our cards. They are really nice cardstock weight. I LOVE THEM!! So far, that is the only place I’ve found willing to do that and we like to showcase different images on the front.
When Ethan was little and we took down his crib, ALL the parts, (including the metal mattress brace), fell on my foot. I told good old hubby I was pretty sure it was broken, he told me I was “a sissy” and to “suck it up.” So, I did and didn’t go to the doctor for two years. Come to find out it was broken, didn’t heal right and screwed up a bunch of other stuff. Only good thing that came of it is that I can now lay on the guilt as needed because he called me a sissy, and now it is all his fault that it hurts nearly all the time. I remind him on an as needed basis. 🙂
We ordered business cards from inkgarden and they turned out great. There is usually a discount available to make them fairly cheap.
I think they make you scan your card first at the checkout because they got sick of people complaining about not being able to tell if the correct items rang up on sale. You can watch them discount down as they ring them. You can start yelling at them at ANY POINT now during the transaction to let them know “ya need ya discount dammit!”
Enough of the likes or shares on facebook. Yes, I hate cancer, support my troops, etc. etc. But I don’t have the time to like or share. Sorry, just not going to do it. And for all those people looking for likes and shares for a new dog?!?! There’s a reason that you don’t have a dog kids…. Your parents don’t want you to have one. It was cute for a hot minute…..
