March Madness

Okay, like five of you said you’d participate if I started a Bracket Challenge and that’s good enough for me, so let’s do this. I started a group over at ESPN, called RamblingsofaSuburbanMom, that you can join if you want to participate. You’ll have to register with ESPN if you don’t already have an account, but that should take you about 2.2 seconds.

Basically all you need to do today is join the group.  You can’t pick your teams yet because  the selection committee hasn’t even selected who is in the tournament yet.  That happens Sunday.  Once they pick the 64 teams on Sunday (3/17), you’ll have until Thursday (3/21) morning to pick your teams and finalize your bracket.  One entry per person.

If you have NO clue, what I am talking about, I’ll explain real quick.  March Madness is college basketball’s tournament to determine their National Champion.  The tournament begins with 64 teams and then ends up with 1 winner.  Games are played as follows:
~Round 1 (First 4): March 19th & 20th (meh these games don’t mean much unless your playing in them).  I’m not even going to explain.
~Rounds 2 and 3: March 21st – 24th
~Regionals (Sweet Sixteen & Elite 8): March 28th – 31st
~Final Four: April 4th
~National Championship Game: April 6th
All you need to do is pick who you think will win each game.  The Tournament is broke down into 4 regions with 16 seeded teams (#1 being the best, #16 being the least best) in each region (64 total).  The winners of each region become the Final Four.  One a team loses, they are done and don’t play anymore.

Once the teams are selected by the committee, you will be able to go online (here) and pick between two teams.  You pick who you want to win and then you keep picking until you are down to one winner.  ESPN will tell you when you’re done.  If you are still confused, click here.  And how do you know who to pick if you don’t follow the sport?  Pick the team name you like best.  The one with the better mascot.  Or the better colors.  Things get crazy during March Madness, so anything goes (although no #16 has ever beat a #1 – keep that in mind)!!!

Rules are:
~1 entry per person
~18 years of age or older

The more people that enter the more fun it will be, so do it!  And have your husband, boyfriend, roommate, sister, cousin, etc. enter too.  To entice you to enter and to make it a little more fun, I am going to giveaway a $100 Lululemon gift card to the winner (aka the person on the top of the standings when all is said and done)!  I thought that was kinda sports related and who wouldn’t want to win that?  You can get *maybe* a new shirt with $100 to lulu ;).  So go get signed up.  I’ll remind you to start picking your teams next week.
