March Birchbox Review

March Birchbox
March Birchbox

I received my March Birchbox today and, as always, I tore right into it. One of my friends (aka blog readers – hi Patty!) said that Birchbox is the gateway drug of subscription boxes and truer words have never been spoken. You think you are starting out with one little $10 box of samples. And then it just snowballs. But in a good way.

Birchbox
The Box

The March Birchbox box was the normal pink outer box with the brown box with pink lettering inside. Next month will be different though since we are going to be getting the Woman’s Health box, which should be fun!

I know some people get disappointed that they didn’t get such and such items in their Birchbox. I don’t look too closely at the other boxes (*), but I also don’t get too disappointed if I see something I like and didn’t get it. I’ll get it. Eventually.

The Information Card

The March Birchbox theme relates to March Madness and is all about getting in on the game. This month’s box is “filled with products that are worth a spot on your team—from fresh-faced newbies to veteran all-stars”. Birchbox is going to be hosting a bracket challenge of their own this month and I can’t wait to see who the winner is!

Allright, enough of all that, here’s what I got in this month’s box.

~Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer ($6.50): This could not come at a better time. Oddly, the last year or so of not sleeping is catching up with me and I could use something to brighten the underneath area of my eyes. In the worst way actually. Plus, I love Benefit, so this is a total score for me!

~twistband Headband ($3.17): My love for headbands is no secret, but I don’t love twistband ones like I love my lulu ones. If my hair didn’t have so much crazy stubby growth still, twistbands would work well. But I need a thicker band to tame this mess. I’m saving this and trying it in a few months. Fingers crossed it will work better!

~Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream($2.93): I can’t even tell you the last time I bought shaving cream. Water and a men’s razor works great. I actually thought that everyone used men’s razors, but I have recently heard that this is not the case. I use a Gillette Fusion or Mach3 and have for ages. Even before B. But back to the Whish Cream, it does smell delicious and I’ll try it to see what I am missing.

~Madewell for Birchbox Nail Emery Board ($5): I am super excited for this. It’s probably my favorite item in the entire box. I can always use nail files and never buy them. This is totally perfect for me and adorable too.

~Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum ($11.67): I received this in one of my February GLOSSYBOX’s, but as luck would have it, the winner of my giveaway opted for the box with this in it. Which was totally fine because I did want the snail mask, but I wanted this too. And look, I got it! My skin is looking forward to this and I am guessing I will be buying the full size soon!

All totaled, I came up with a value of $29.27. Plus the $5 in points I will get for reviewing the items and the $1 (**) I got for buying the box brings the value to $35.27. Awesome since the box only costs $10. I love seriously Birchbox and will likely always subscribe.

Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What’d you get in this month’s box? And if you don’t subscribe and want to get on the waiting list (does anyone know how long it is right now) or just want to learn more, click here!

(*) If you want to see the other boxes from this month, go here and just change the 1 at the end of the html anywhere from 2 to 37.
(**) I bought a year in advance. I don’t think you get the points when you do it month to month.

I’m getting pretty much the same box – except instead of the benefit – I’m getting nail stickers. So bummed with the box! I’ll try the evologie & whish but the rest it’s like really?!?! Twistbands – meh. I can go make my own. Nail files – don’t use them. Nail stickers I don’t like & don’t have the paitence for. Ugh. Oh well. You win some & you lose some with BB!

I also like men’s razors. I usually steal my boyfriend’s & then he gets mad at me for it lol. They work so much better!

I just recently got put on the waiting list (like a week ago, maybe?) and it said about 4 weeks for the womens box and 2 weeks for the mens box. I cannot wait to get it. You’ve seriously got me addicted to all of these subscriptions. Which is great except for the fact that my bank account is going to be at an all time low haha

I have always used men’s razors also. I think the only thing I got the same in my box is the headband and a different brand of shaving cream. Mine hasn’t came yet because my mailman hates me. I feel like such an inside now that I know how to look at the other boxes..thanks for filling me in!!1

I got a shout out! Woot woot! Hello world! 🙂

I just got my birch box today! I love it so much more than last month. I also got the emory board, head band and shaving cream..I tried the shaving cream tonight and my legs are super smooth. In addition I also got dry shampoo and those nail polish strips in a really cute floral. I really really do love this months box and I’ll probably always subscribe.

btw…its true. Birchbox is definitely the gateway drug of subscription boxes. It’s what got me started and directed me to your blog.

Oops you were totally right! They don’t give points for monthly subs (just the reviews) They give points on the $10 when you first sign up and I thought they would continue but I just checked my account. Darn!

This is just the second month I’m getting Birchbox and although I liked last month, I’m disapointed in this month. Other than the Emory board, my box is completely different and kind of flimsy in terms of the products. What determines the products each person gets? It can’t just be the survey you take on their site.

I’m getting irritated with Birchbox. The longer my subscription is, the more disappointed I am, but I LOVE their point system (I get the men’s box too for the bf). Their sneak peak videos show what you “could” get and I get excited, then am let down. I got the shampoo, but no conditioner. I REALLY wanted the nail strips and the dry shampoo, but no luck.

And yet I still don’t want to give it up. 😉
