The March Kiwi Crate theme was “Secret Agent”and included two projects “my periscope” and “my disguise kit”. This month’s theme was great for us before we do like to play Spy around here ;).
I opened up the box and checked out the items (and the theme since I hadn’t peeked) and closed the box up so L could discover it himself. L had a busy afternoon of playing outside (he had a friend over) and was just about to sit down and watch Peter Pan, UNTIL he spied the Kiwi Crate box on the counter. Then he decided it was project time!
Project #1
The first March Kiwi Crate project was “my periscope” and included everything you needed to build and decorate your own periscope. The project was low on the messiness scale and medium on the grown-up involvement scale. It involved exploring, creating and discovering.
I gotta tell you, I could not figure out how to use this on my own. B had to show me and I was CRACKING UP at how dumb I was. Luckily L understood it perfectly. He loves to hide, but be able to see what’d B’s doing, so this was totally perfect for him. Those two are hysterical when they run around the house trying to hide from each other. Maybe this will give L an edge??
Project #2
The second March Kiwi Crate Project was “my disguise kit”. It was low on the messiness scale and medium on the grown-up involvement scale. I actually felt like L needed way less help with this one than with the periscope. This was just decorating. The periscope involved reading directions! My disguise kit involved moving – fun, creating and communicating.
I don’t know what it is with kids and masks, but it’s so funny watching them pretend to be different characters and using different voices. L and I both made masks and had a good time pretending to be secret agents. I don’t know why L insisted on using the cell phone on his guy, but he was SO insistent that he needed it.
Explore More
This month’s explore more was our favorite part of the kit. You used the pen to write secret light messages and then took the messages into dark room, flipped the UV light on (it’s on the pen) and you could read the messages. OMG, L thought it was the coolest thing ever. We spent a long time writing each other messages! I need more of these pens. Stat. They might be the coolest thing ever. No, they are the coolest thing ever.
