~First of all, if you are linking-up or playing in my our NCAA Tournament Challenge, I really do think you are the coolest person ever. I am so excited about March Madness and the challenge you don’t even understand.
~So Google Reader is shutting down effective 7/2013. Dude, WTF? This is not good. I read all of my blogs in Google Reader and I am guessing a lot of people do as well. But if you don’t, what do you use? Clearly I am going to be needing some recommendations! I guess I could use bloglovin, but is that the best of the rest? Help me!
~What’s going on in subscription box land (aka my kitchen) you ask? Let’s see. So far this week I have received (and reviewed) PopSugar, Love With Food, bluum, Birchbox, and Yuzen. I also have received, but not yet reviewed, Graze and Elizabeth & Clarke. I am still expecting Spicy Subscriptions (I know you all love that one), Kiwi Crate (they now ship to Canada), The Little Book Club and *maybe* Citrus Lane? And honestly, whatever else shows up at my doorstep. I also want to do something different with my Subscription Box List. It’s just SO big and long. Do any of my smart friends know if I can easily make drop down menus? Or something?
~Ugh. So yesterday I posted about how I found a hard drive with pictures on it that I accused B of deleting (it appears we have 3 little black external hard drives that all look exactly the same). Guess who read my blog yesterday? Yeah. B. OOPS. I guess he does read it after all ;).
~The winner of the SparkPlay giveaway is Kimberly K. H. (I will e-mail you ASAP). Congrats!!!! The PopSugar giveaway ends on Friday. And the Favorite Things (aka iPad Mini) Giveaway ends on Monday (well Sunday at midnight). I gotta think of something to top March now. Or maybe not? I am actually surprised you all were SO excited. Heck, I am actually surprised people actually read my blog.
~Those Cardinals sure know how to make a decision quickly. I personally think we should require that all decisions are made their way. Let’s lock up Congress in a little camp with no cell phones, television, etc. until they can get together and make a decision. Something tells me they’d either kill each other or work together quite nicely. Ohhh, and also, B and I want to know why the Pope can’t keep his old name? Why do you have to have a new name once you become Pope?
~And finally, we’re off to see the Easter Bunny today and I can only hope WB is just as excited to meet him as L was when he was WB’s age. Stay tuned to Instagram for the picture!
Allright, now it’s your turn to share your thoughts! Link-up so we can all read what’s on your mind today!
[inlinkz id = 2]
I think you’re on to something with locking up Congress. They could do red and blue smoke! You should start a petition. 🙂
I use Google reader, too. When I heard the news I immediately started researching other options. I found that Feedly is partnered with Google reader and as long as you are signed in with them using your Google account they will transfer everything over smoothly when Google reader expires. They have iPhone and Android apps, and are also available on the web.
I use the feedly app on my iPad to read all my fave bloggies. 🙂
No one would take a Pope seriously with a name like Steve or Todd. You gotta change it to something more Pope-y. That’s my guess anyway. 🙂
HA HA, you outed yourself!!
Isn’t there a reading list built thing built into Safari??
I wondered the same thing last night about Bloglovin. Everyone seems to use it, but I wondered if it was the best. I also use google reader and am not excited about finding something new.
And because you posted about the julep mystery box last night on FB, I had to go and order it. :o)
The Pope choosing a name has to do with the Catholic faith. Each Pope chooses to take the name of a Saint that has impacted his personal faith. For instance, the new Pope choose St. Francis because that particular Saint was known for his charity work with the poor, and the new Pope wants to embody that as something he identifies with and will practice. (It’s sorta like they pick the Saint that inspires their faith) He’s actually the first Pope to choose St. Francis, which is why is is known as Pope Francis, and not have any numericals after his name. (I have a history degree and had to take some religion classes, so I’m kinda a dork.) haha
I am so glad I am not the only one wondering what in the world I am going to do once Google Reader goes away. I am not crazy about Bloglovin– I want something similar to what I have so i will look into Feedly (thanks Courtney!).
I agree that those Cardinals made a very quick decision– it might be a good idea for congress to be locked in a room– it might weed out some of them!
I am visiting from the Grow your blog hop– I love your thursday post!

That’s a lot of hard drives lol.
New follower here via twitter! Allow me to check with you every now and then, ok? Hugs to you dear!!!
Hope you can visit and follow me too!
I’m not Catholic, but I’m excited about the new Pope too! As for Google reader, I’m super cranky. Why are they shutting it down? So frustrating. I haven’t decided where to go yet, but here’s a great article on CNet.

The Pope changes his name because when a man becomes the Pope he becomes a completely different man. He is no longer the man he was before so he changes his name to reflect the man he will be as the Pope. Apparently the Pope chose Francis because he is a simple man that like to help the poor and St. Francis gave up everything he had to live in poverty. ……and yes I am Catholic. 😉
Yay I learned something! Thanks everyone for the pope lessons! I’m going to have to check into Feedly… after I have a mini-funeral for Google Reader. Why, Google, why!!!
I’m changing my name to Jessica Biel. So I can be her. And be married to perfection.
So funny that you got caught about the hard drive when B read your post! And you thought he didn’t read your blog. Ha!
Very upset about Google Reader going away, as I just got it organized the way I wanted. Will have to check out the alternatives. Thanks for the link Jennifer! And thanks for all the Pope info! I was hoping for Pope Julio, but that’s just me. 😉
Looking forward to the Easter Bunny picture!
I don’t use google reader (I use outlook), but I use feedburner, which is also going away at some point. Do you like feedblitz for sending your emails?
Wikipedia has a good entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_name
Basically how it started was one pope in the 6th century was named after Mercury, a pagan god and he did not think it appropriate, so he changed his name. All the popes since have followed that tradition. “Often the new pontiff’s choice of name upon being elected to the papacy is seen as a signal to the world of who the new pope will emulate, what policies he will seek to enact, or even the length of his reign.”
Also, being called Francis is a good indication of what he wants his papacy to look like & do. Remember that God told St. Francis of Assisi: “Rebuild my church”. Could be seen as a sign that he wants to unify the differing factions of the church.
If you’re looking for a laugh, check out Catholic Memes on facebook. They’ve had gentle fun with the new Pope.
OMG THANK YOU….So Excited I can’t believe I WON!! I was reading your post on my phone in our camper in the middle of the Arkansas woods and was saying “NO that can’t be me? Well Maybe” but it is so hard doing things on my phone. While sneaking using my phone because we are supposed to be in the woods camping not playing with my electronics. LOL
My Niece will be so excited and so will my sister when I share this box with her for her birthday!!
You should have seen me trying to link up in the camper while my dear H is saying nicely are you playing on your phone again? Really it is not playing I have a lot of business I must take care of. Like right now should be paying bills and doing taxes but I am catching up on blog posts. 🙂

Thank you everyone for the Feedly recommendation. My blogs seem to have transferred over nicely. Now I won’t be as sad when Google Reader disappears.
