Tuesdays Troubles

It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is.

  • Let’s talk about this new Pinterest layout?  WTF?  That thing is a one huge cluster beep now.  Why do they have to go changing things?  What was wrong before?  Oh, that’s right nothing was.  It’s ruining all my pinning fun.  On a somewhat related note, I do like the changes Facebook has made to our profiles.  That looks good.
  • Every year I the Easter Bunny is at a loss about what to put in L’s (and now WB’s) Easter Baskets.  L is almost 5 and WB is almost 1.  I mean the EB could pack WB’s full of mac n cheese and apple juice and he’d think he hit the jackpot, but that’s not happening.  So I the Easter Bunny needs ideas.  Anyone have any amazing ideas out there?  I know the usual suspects, chalk, stickers, Matchbox cars, etc., but I want to do something fun.  I think I am going to do swim trunks, but what else?  HELP!
  • I have been reading some posts about Blissdom (how can I not, they are everywhere) and some people thought it was OMGSOAMAZING, while others thought it was a waste.  I would have been in the later category. Other than not needing a conference to tell me about things I could google, it also troubles me that people go to events like that and feel left out because they aren’t a “big” blogger (whatever that means). I think next year everyone should go to Las Vegas (with separate rooms of course).  We’ll pay $400 (aka the cost of Blissdom) and we’ll pool our money to have the best two nights in Vegas.  Ever.  It’ll be like The Hangover style Vegas.  Sounds fun right?  I think so. You will learn nothing but how to have a good time.
  • Okay, so L loves having matching pajamas with WB.  Loves it.  However, my normal pj go-to is GAP and they only have matching pajamas up to a 5T.  So what do I do?  Where do I get matching ones?  Is Hanna Andersson my only choice?  Those suckers are expensive.  There has to be other options?
  • Why in the world do they show commercials for restaurants we don’t even have here? WTF?  Same with like advertising things in sale papers that they don’t actually have in store?  I’ve got an idea.  If you say you are going to be selling something, how about you have it in stock?  Or have more than just say, two of them? I’m not talking about like Black Friday sales.  I’m just talking about a random weekly sale.  So so so annoying to get to a store and have them not have it.  No I don’t want a rain check.  I want it NOW!!!!

That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?

If you find a good place for matching/coordinating pjs let me know. I think its really hard to find ones for 2T and 3 months, but I have found a couple of carters sets. Also check children’s place….I’m not sure how high they go in size though.

And I love the Vegas Idea. Conference=school to me and I already did my time.

If you are doing swim trunks you could also do squirt bottles, flip flops or water shoes, maybe a build a bear with swim trunks on too, sunglasses, and some water toys. I like the my first crayola products but, my 16 month old still wants to eat crayons 🙁

  3. Kayleigh

Umm… I think you are onto something with the Vegas trip. I would definitely fork over the money for that!

  4. MurdocksMama

My mom {So now me} always put a new swimsuit/trunks, sandals, & sunglasses {& a hat if we were little} as well as a pair of spring jammies. Outdoor/swimming toys were always a hit when we were elementary age. Usually an outfit for summer when we got older. {let’s face it, we have to buy them anyways, might as well make it seem like a big deal!} 🙂

I just heard on the Radio that they changed pinterest and she was raving about it! Probably just to promote people to go on pinterest and follow their radio station. After hearing your review I’ll have to check it out tonight. I go on it with my kindle so I hope it’s not so bad with that.
I just checked, the closest Jack In the Box is 497 miles from me – so I don’t wanna see those commericals and be like ohh that looks good, mayyybeee, wait no because I’m not driving 9 hours to eat that thanks for making me mad.

Easter Basket – If you’re planning on putting swim trunks in there basket this year, how about doing a beach/pool theme. In lieu of a traditional Easter basket, use a beach bucket or pool bag and fill it with water/sand toys , goggles, beach ball, etc. If you put candy in L’s basket you do swedish fish or shark gummies to go with that theme. PS – Magic jelly beans were a big hit with my almost 5 year old (thank you pinterest of that idea!)

PJ’s – Gymboree has pjs that go up to size 12. The quality is great and there’s always 20% off coupons in magazines. Carter’s is another option 🙂

    1. Jenn

@RMH: Yes to Gymboree! It depends on what PJs they have out but sometimes I can find matching ones for babies and big kids.

  7. Jackie

I would totally be down for a Vegas weekend. I had been curious about Blissdom, but being relatively new, I didn’t figure it was something for me until I got “bigger” in the blog sense. BUT- you’re Vegas idea is brilliant…sign me up! (I’ve also never been!)

  8. Melissa

Gymboree has larger matching jammies, that’s where we get a lot of ours. Carters actually has them too. I like to do the matching thing on holidays and those are my go to sources.

  9. Kristin

    Vegas. Yes. I’m there!

  10. Rose D.

I always LOVED getting books in my Easter basket. And maybe a “coupon” to Build-A-Bear”?

  11. Shelly

I totally agree with the why show commercials for restaurants that are not around your area one..

They are always showing commercials for Sonic, and in Buffalo, NY we do not have any sonic’s its just mean to show the yummy looking foods and not being able to get them.

  12. Judy Louie

That’s so cute that L loves to having matching pjs with WB. I’m pretty sure Gymboree carries the pjs into much older sizes than 5T. And at Christmas time they even have matching jammies for YOU and B, too! Then the whole family can match. 🙂 (The adult pjs are usually online only.)

  13. Jen

When my girls were little(er), we always found matching PJs at Gymboree — they wash up well and you can usually find them on the clearance racks.
As for Easter baskets, the EB always leaves things for spring/summer in ours. Hula hoops, bubbles, diving sticks/swimming toys, goggles, chalk, squirt guns, etc. and then usually one “bigger” item like a new softball bat or glove.

  14. Leigh

I love the idea of swim trunks, why not do a whole “Beach Basket”? Swim trunks, sun hat, towel, sunscreen, beach/bath toys, and maybe a little book about the beach?

My boys are 3 and 5 this year, so I’m giving in and doing all-candy baskets! I’ve done non-candy baskets for five years now (and watched my kids give me a *look* and run for the awesome baskets they get from extended family) and I’M gonna be the cool one this year! And then I’ll steal at least half of the chocolate when they go to bed. It’s kinda my master plan.

  15. Jamie

The Easter bunny always puts cute coupons in our kids baskets aka free playtime, movie your choice, might not work for you as we’ll our are older so movie of your choice can literally create a meltdown at our since they never agree but wow no arguing w the coupons. One year we did the buy a star they still love to talk about their stars

Day off over here with a hair appt so nothing troubling me except which creamer to use in my coffee, why is pumpkin spice only seasonal?

  16. Alexia561

What did Pinterest do differently? Looks the same to me, only a little bigger & brighter. Can’t keep up with all the changes on Facebook. So long as I can play Farmville, I’ll be happy! 🙂

The TV ads drive me nuts too. When we lived in Utah, they would always show Red Lobster commercials even though there weren’t any in the area! Now I have to sit through Macy’s commercials, but there are no Macy’s around here. 🙁 I don’t know if it’s just a large viewing area or they’re trying to build up customer demand to put in a new store.

Sorry I don’t have any suggestions for Easter baskets, as I was happy with nothing but candy. Good luck!

  17. Kyra

I am not loving how the few pairs of Childrens Place pj’s have held up lately BUT they do have several matching in little and big sizes.

Easter – I guess had better get busy with that! I think M is getting a pair of pj’s, a dvd, a small lego kit to build, some candy items (the fluffy bunny cotton candy tails and jelly beans) and i’m not sure what else. The bathing suit is a good idea since he needs a new one.

  18. sara

We get restaurant commercials for restaurants not here. Happened all the time in OH too!
What’s troubling me….needing to pack and no motivation. Even though we move Saturday. 🙂

  19. mary m

    Vegas!! Wahooo!!!!

Easter basket ideas: If you’re doing trunks, keep the theme. Some small water toys, bubbles, new sunglasses, maybe some fun flipflops or sandels, and then some candy and/or a small stuffed animal.

What bugs me about pinterest is that I can’t right click and open in a new tab. I like to go through and open about 20 tabs, then go back through and look at each one, repinning (or new pinning usually 😉 as I go. I try not to blind pin since so many links are bad/don’t take to the exact recipe etc.

But now I can’t do that, at least here on my work computer. Haven’t tried on the macbook yet….

  20. Erin

Carters and Osh Kosh have matching pajamas. Gymboree and The Children’s place too. I am at a loss for Easter Basket things. I have an 11 and 8 year old and need some ideas as well.

  21. Jen

I just cannot seem to get into pinterest….just too much for me I guess haha.

  22. angela king

omg vegas. i’m totally there! just let me know when. 😉

  23. Kelsey N.

I like the comments of putting stuff related to the swim trunks in the basket. It could be like a summer themed Easter basket. So far I am putting toothbrushes and the Toy Story dvds in the boys baskets. I actually still need to buy baskets (I only have 1). Easter is just too early this year

  24. Courtney

I usually put a movie or game in his basket each year. This year I put a package of temporary tattoos and some silly putty along with some mini action figures etc.

  25. Ashley C.

    A. Call me crazy. I like the new pinterest. Facebook? Well, they can suck it. Every time I get used to their changes, they screw something else up. Grrrr.

    B. Easter Baskets – I try and do outdoorsy things, and very minimal food type stuff. I actually bought almost everything in this years baskets from last years’ mark downs! Chalk, bubbles, bouncy balls, new coloring books and crayons. Plus some other things — new squirt guns, a new movie for each of them, snacks that are NOT candy, one got strawberry shortcake bandaids [she loves to use them on everything!] the boy got mini wolverine and spiderman plushies.

    C. As for matching pajamas … make them! I remember as a kid my mom used to make all of us kids pajamas for christmas eve. I got a nightgown until I got older, and my brothers got pajama pants with a plain tshirt. And they were all out of the same fabric! We thought it was fun … well, okay, I did. But I was also really little. My brothers thought it was stupid … but they were 6 and 8 years OLDER than I was. Oh well!

  26. Kristie

Matching Jammies…Old Navy and Crazy 8’s they don’t always have identical, but coordinating…like footie ones for the baby and shirt and pants in same pattern for the big kid. 🙂
My mom (aka Easter bunny) always put something practical (probably as filler) but if you are doing swim trunks, Sunscreen face sticks and spray would work. Also target almost always has some sort of cute water toy this time of year…

  27. Sara

For my 3 year olds Easter basket I did the usual suspects of candy and bubbles but I also got him one of those dinosaur eggs that hatch in water. I got mine at Christmas Tree Shop but I know they sell it at Michaels too. I think he will love it.

  28. Jodi

Glow sticks and bubbles!! Always a hit!
And I’m so in for Vegas!! How fun would that be?!?!

  29. becky

    Vegas sounds great to me!!

I was so mad at a grocery store when they were out of blueberries that were on sale a few weeks ago. I’ve been waiting for blueberries to go on sale since, oh, last fall and I went to the store specifically to get blueberries (and maybe easter candy) and they didn’t have any left. Then I remembered that the same thing happened at the same store last year, and I’m pretty certain I’m never going back to that store again. Don’t mess with my blueberries!

  31. Jen Dera

We always do books in the Easter basket and then a few other things, like lunch snacks and stuff. My kids really don’t eat a lot of candy. Ethan is getting older and well, he is totally over the Easter Bunny hoopla, but he plays along for the sake of the others. He picked out his own books this year. I’m sure that makes me some type of monster parent. Next year, I suspect it will be a card and cash for him. 😛
