April NatureBox

I have been saying for ages I am going to subscribe to NatureBox and I finally did it! My brother and SIL get NatureBox and totally love it and since I am trying to snack smarter, it was time! In case you aren’t familiar, NatureBox is a convenient snack subscription service that delivers delicious snacks to your door each month. A deluxe NatureBox with 5 full-sized bags of snacks is $19.95 per month, shipping is always free, and you can cancel anytime.

NatureBox
The Box

NatureBox ships via USPS and it came before I even got a tracking number for it. There’s nothing I like more than a subscription box showing up unannounced!

NatureBox
First Look

NatureBox now allows you to customize your box (i.e. you can now pick your favorite 5 items for the box), although since it was my first box, I did not have that option. My brother and SIL do though and totally love it. They usually stick with a few of their favorites every month and try one or two new things as well. That’s my plan too!

NatureBox
The Sorta Information Card

NatureBox doesn’t have an information card with product details on it, rather it’s a card that gives you general information on NatureBox and their products. NatureBox items have no high fructose corn syrup, no partially hydrogenated oils, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and 0g trans fat. Pretty good right? Here’s what was in our box:

~Chocolate Ginger Bliss:  I tested this out and it’s quite tasty.  Maybe because it has chocolate chips in it ;)?  And the ginger in it may help to soothe headaches or stomach ailments, which is always a bonus!

~Honey Crunch Crisps: Ohhh, I can’t wait to try these.  If these taste anywhere close to what I am expecting (sort of Honey Smack cereal like), I am going to be thrilled!!!  ETA: These are yummy. And they pretty much do taste like Honey Smacks cereal.  WB and L even enjoyed them.  I would for sure pick them again.

~Cherry Berry Granola: I love granola and am pleased that this doesn’t have a pile of sugar in it.  I think instead of my normal breakfast bars, I am going to start having a little granola in the morning.  I suspect it’s a bit more filling!  ETA: This was good, but I wasn’t wowed or anything. I did like that it didn’t have weird chunks of fruit in it.  I don’t like that!  B actually took most of this to work and ate it there. All of  sudden I looked and the bag was gone!

~Sunshine Chips:  Sunshine Chips offer a rainbow of vegetables such as sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, taro and green beans and I can only hope I love them half as much as I love normal potato chips!  ETA: These are good!  Do I like them half as much as I like Sour Cream and Cheddar chips?  LOL.  No!  But I’d totally eat them with a sandwich in their place and would for sure include them in a future box.

~Smoky Pumpkin Seeds: I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin seeds (unless it’s Halloween and I cook them myself of course), but I know B likes them and will totally love this snack!  ETA: B took this to work, ate the entire bag and I never saw them again.  He gives his approval on these for sure!

Broken down, each package of NatureBox works out to be $4/each.  That’s less than what you’d pay at your local fancy pants heath store that’s for sure!’

That looks exactly like the first box I got from them as well back when I got my first box! I haven’t got my box yet this month. I always get the box first, then like three days later getting the tracking info saying its been mailed. Those sunshine chips are delicious!!!

I recieved the Sunshine Chips in March and I have to admit that I hated them :/.They do not taste like regular chips in the least. But I hope you like than me!!!

I tried Nature Box and didn’t get to choose and got some really funky stuff that wasn’t good at all. It looks like you got a much better box. If I would of gotten the same box I probably would still be getting Nature Box. I did get the sunshine chips and they were my favorite out of the whole box. My cousin signed up and she was able to choose. I’m not sure how but, she was really happy with hers. I’m thinking about calling them to see if they will let me try them out again for the discounted price since she has been so happy with her choices.

      @Brandy Fisk:

Hi Brandy! We’re so sorry that your 1st box wasn’t a hit but your cousin is right, you can choose your snacks now if you contact our Customer Care Team (support@naturebox.com or 1.888.613.6998 Mon-Fri 7AM-5PM PST). We would be happy to honor the discounted price and give you the chance to try NatureBox again and pick out your favorite snacks. Have a great day! 🙂

I got almost that same box yesterday and we really liked it. I checked out their website and there are lots of choices for the next box.

  5. Sue

This looks great! I just signed up – thanks for the code!

I signed up for a three-month NatureBox subscription when DailyCandy ran a deal, I think it was $30 total. I liked it but not enough to keep it for full price — my son is a big fan of the figgy bars and I liked the yogurt-covered pretzels, pistachio power clusters and blueberry almond bites as well as the crunchy kettle corn kernels (not popcorn, these giant crunchy corn kernels with a sweet glaze). When I called to cancel they asked if I would keep the service if they knocked the price down to $9.95/mo for three months and then $14.95/mo for three months (and I can still cancel anytime), so I kept it.

I adore NatureBox. 🙂 Although – the Sunshine Chips are still sitting in my pantry. I upgraded to the 10 count box – then the snacks are just $3 each. I have a little granola with my greek yogurt in the morning – perfect breakfast!

  8. Brianne

I got an email about this and it seems like a good idea but I wish the products were organic.

    1. Paula

@Brianne: most of their products are certified organic

    Hello Jennifer,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review.
Do you know if Nature Box is GMO Free? I am really hoping they do a deal on Groupon Goods. The price they have seems pretty fair; however, starting with a deal when you are trying something new is GREAT!
Looking forward to the Sun Chips and Pumpkin Seeds, as it is a good way to get vitamin E in the form of alpha-tocopherol. Yummy!!! Ciao & Blessings ~ Jordan 🙂

  11. Catherine

There are no articicial sweeteners, but is there a large amount of natural sweeteners? What is the sugar content of the average snack? Are they GMO free? Soy free? I’m interested, but don’t want to get a box of snacks loaded with “cane juice” and soy.

  12. Naomi

How big are the bags? How many ounces? The site says full-size but that’s relative and doesn’t mean much.

  13. Becca

I wish your review would have been written after tasting the snacks. Maybe you can list an update of what you thought after trying them?

  14. Melanie

I agree – a review on a product not yet consumed/used is not very useful.

    1. Jennifer

You are totally right, I should have waited! I tried to respond via e-mail, but it got returned to me. I am updating the post as we speak!!

Is naturebox gluten free? dairy free? I have allergies and I can’t find the information anywhere.

  16. PatV

Here I want to share my experience as this may help some other to get cheated by this ridicules brand.

PLEASE NOTE MY REVIEW IS ALL ABOUT MY VERY VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMIER SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY.

I have find one of the promo for snack pack in $1.95 in October end sometime so I have register with this, they send me packet in November, now I don’t find $20 value of this packet of food so I think to go and cancel my subscription, so I called there support and I wait on hold listening there music for almost 10-15 minutes and finally think to try some other time so hang-up. I have again try after few days and same thing happen. I have try third time to reach them again after a week or so but again same thing.

After this one day morning I found they authorize my card again for December shipping for around $20 and i have immoderately pickup my phone and call them, this time I was on hold for almost 30 minutes but no answer so I have hang-up and finally decided to send them an email about this issue and my subscription cancellation, as such this cheater brand has put following thing on their website.

“Please be aware that we do not process cancellations via email or Facebook/Twitter out reaches, so call our Snack Concierge team at 1-888-613-6998.”

Why any company will not accept request by email? Its 100% valid media of communication. But this time as my card was authorized I have write and send them email about requesting my subscription cancel for all future delivery, regarding this they have email me its cancel, but surprisingly few days after I had packet on my door for December month delivery.. I have refuse delivery and send packet back, then check my card and this guys didn’t release that $20 they charged.. So I have write another email for this.. But there customer service is worse than third world country.. Guy clearly said I am not able to track refuse shipping and in any case they are not going to refund me.. So I have asked them I am going to request for charge back, regarding this also this guys are saying me you can do whatever I can do but they are not going to refund in any case.

I have question him, what if I will buy something from Walmart and I want to return my stuff as long as its brand new condition, do Walmart will say me I will not take it return and will not refund.. Infect I gave him example of Costco where they take frozen food too once on each membership.. But this guys are don’t know made with which kind of stuff that they are not ready to accept anything.

So please anyone find some deal of offer for first free / promo pack do not order it, as this is all set of cheating as far as my experience is concern. Do not signup with any promo offer its all trick to fit you in their subscription web!

    Hope this will help someone.

That PatV guy is posting all over the net with this.

NatureBox says they can’t take return-to-sender. It’s right in the sign-up terms; I saw it when I was first signing up. The USPS just destroys the box. They don’t refund for that.

Also, when you first sign up–even for a sample–this is directly below the “Place Order” button:

By clicking ?place order?, you acknowledge you have read and understand the NatureBox terms & conditions and authorize us to automatically continue your NatureBox subscription, charging $19.95 each time your subscription renews to the payment method provided, until you cancel.

If you charge back through VISA, the company will submit evidence showing that the charges are your fault for negligence. The above is sufficient, and VISA will reverse the chargeback and charge you a $35 fee.

Their Contact page says they don’t accept cancellation through e-mail. Give me your e-mail address, I’ll e-mail your bank with it :p you just connect to an SMTP server and put “From: WhoeverIWant@to.be.today” and that’s who it says mail is from.

All e-mail is the equivalent of a shadowy, distorted voice called in from a pay phone claiming to be a particular person.

I take Computer Science III, I know what I’m talking about.

  17. Krista

Have your BANK do the charge back.. they can do it, even if the company doesn’t want to cooperate..

I admit I loved the jalapeno cashews. But at the same time, I hated the vegetable sunshine chips (too oily!). All the other snacks were okay, but not great.

I’ll miss the jalapeno cashews, but since none of the other snacks were all that great, I decided to cancel. That’s when the problems started. O just noticed for the second month in a row now, I’m being charged for a box after I tried to cancel my subscription. Their website is not easy to use, and their phone operators are either liars or incompetent.
