Other than subscription boxes, I don’t review a lot of things on my blog. It has to be something I am really interested in. But when the people over at Mom’s Meet asked if I wanted to review the NUK FreshFoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker, I jumped at the chance. Remember when I planned on making WB his own baby food? Ha! That never happened. But I realized it wasn’t too late. I still had a chance!
At first I thought this was just a blender that blended your already cooked food. WRONG!!! I guess I missed the cooked part of the name.It both cooks and blends. How cool is that? You can make up to 4 bowls of food at a time and can blend for a smooth texture or make it a little more on the chunkier side, for older babies. The machine even beeps when the veggies are done cooking so there is no guess work. It will be perfectly cooked every time!
Because it’s a hot day here, we decided to make one of the smoothies recipes in the booklet. We modified it a little and opted to use strawberries, blueberries and bananas. We blended those to a smooth texture (it took maybe 30 seconds) and then added a little yogurt to thicken it up. All totaled, I believe it took maybe a minute from start to finish.
I actually couldn’t believe how fast and easy everything blended. I had my doubts about the power of it since it was small, but I shouldn’t have worried!
L opted to take his smoothie out in his swingset while I froze WB’s into a popsicle for him to enjoy later (when all the big kids get ice cream from the ice cream man I am guessing).
I am going to go out today and picking up some of those pouches that you can use to put your homemade baby foods in. WB will eat basically anything from a pouch because he can hold it himself and thinks that is awesome. I am so excited about this because it’s EASY to use (even I can figure it out) and I can actually seriously start making more of WB’s foods. Store bought pouches, while great, are expensive so this is going to save us a fortune.
What do you think of the NUK FreshFoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker? Is it something you’d use to make baby food? If you are interested in learning more, click here. And I will report back after I make some pouch foods too!
