Dear Store Security Tags, You are no joke to get off huh? I need to make sure and look at every thing I buy like a year in advance before putting away so that there are no random sensors still attached. I worked in retail for years there are a few tricks to getting security tags off. The ink tags can be taken off with a high powered magnet. That’s it with those no joke, we would use really strong magnets in the backroom to get them off instead of going to the register. (I know a little lazy)
If it is the other kind of security tag, don’t pull it will only create a hole. You have to get a flat head screwdriver in there and pop it off without the screwdriver making a hole in the clothes. Very tricky.

I once ordered something online and it came with the ink tags on it. It was about an hour process and some googling but I got that baby off with no ink mess!
Freeze your garment before trying to remove the sensor tag – it will freeze the ink too.
Oh and if you have a Dremel, it comes in handy.
And no, I’m not a thief – I used to work retail. Our store switched types of tags and someone stole our remover for the old tags so we had to be creative in removing them.
I’ve heard that putting the security tag in the freezer will freeze the ink so no mess if something does go wrong during the removal process.
