May Dottiebox

Dottiebox, LLC is a fairly new subscription box that introduces you to artists you may not have heard about otherwise.  The handmade items which may be included in a box come from a wide variety of catagories including skincare, cosmetics, jewelry, etc.  If it’s handmade, it could be included!

Dottiebox ships via USPS Priority Mail (woot woot) and arrived very quickly.  Dottiebox only makes 100 boxes a month (they are a small and growing company) and ships subscription boxes at the beginning of the month and one-time only boxes out throughout the month.

The Box

The team at Dottiebox hand packs every box and you can tell they enjoy doing it.  I would be extremely frustrated tying the string around the boxes, but something tells me they love it and can make it look perfect every time.

First Look

I reviewed the March Dottiebox, their first ever box and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to see what they had in store for me this month.

The Information Card

The first thing I noticed about the box was that Dottiebox changed their information card.  The new one is way cuter and I loved it!  It fits their handmade theme and I think it’s perfect!  And of course, I love that they include prices.  It makes it way easier (for me).

~Atomic Lace Post Earrings ($12.50): Atomic Lace is an etsy shop that makes cute earrings (and other pieces).  The size of the earrings are perfect for younger girls and are a great, inexpensive option.  I was very impressed by the quality of these and even more impressed when I learned that ALL of the artwork on the pieces is original to Atomic Lace.  Check out these Batman earrings!!  Cool right?

~Catch Some Raes Cupcake Toppers ($1.30): I LOVE cupcake toppers but I have to admit, I don’t use them enough.  Maybe because I don’t take my cupcakes anywhere?  I don’t know.  But I am going to start using them more, beginning tomorrow.  It’s suppose to rain so I think the boys and I will bake.  This shop has a ton of other cute (and affordable) paper goods including some great gift tags!

~Mane Message Elastic Headband ($3): You know I was excited when I saw this!  My post baby “bangs” are STILL growing out and headbands are a staple around here.  I love these and while I know you can easily make them yourself, I also know I never will!

~Overall Beauty Mineral Eye Shadow (Bronze Turqouise) ($5.50): This is a gorgeous mineral eye shadow and is highly pigmented (meaning that you use less, so it lasts longer).  Overall Beauty is vegan friendly and keeps packaging basic to keep costs down for the consumer, which I appreciate.  I would never buy this color shadow on my own, but I was excited to see it for that exact reason.  You never know if you will love it it you don’t try it.

~Whispering Willow Soap Bar Soap (Grapefruit) ($6): I used to dislike bar soap, but it’s growing on it.  This smells great and I will totally use it.  They have a bunch of other great scents and also make bath salts, body washes, candles and more.  Oh and please tell me someone else thinks about Fight Club when they think about making soap.  Anyone??

~Huntress Handmades(Coupon): The box also included a 20% off coupon code (MAYDEAL) for Huntress Handmades, which sells natural handmade soaps.

All totaled I came up with a value of $27.80 for the May Dottiebox.  Boxes are $20/month ($26/month including shipping), and I didn’t even include the cost of shipping in the items which I usually do for smaller boxes like Dottiebox.  Any way you slice it, it’s a deal!
