In an effort to try out some new boxes, I ordered Beauty Box 5 last month. I’d heard of them of course and read a few reviews, but I didn’t know too many specifics. As a result ,I was excited to check the June Beauty Box 5 out when it appeared today.
Beauty Box 5 ships via USPS First Class Mail and it took 3 days to arrive from Texas. For whatever reason I expected the box to be bigger? No idea what I based this on, I just thought it would be. It’s smaller than even a Birchbox I believe.
I loved this first look because I recognized nothing. I have never tried or even heard of any of these products. And that’s what I love about subscription boxes. That you get to discover new things.
It doesn’t appear that Beauty Box 5 has monthly themes, but they do have a great information card. Here’s what I received in my June Beauty Box 5:
~Coolway Cool Cleanse Shampoo and Coolway Cool Hydrate Conditioner($4.76): I’m always down with trying new shampoo and conditoner (I usually have 2-3 going in the shower at any time) and this is no exception. It’s suppose to reduce breakage and frizz and give you a more polished look overall. It doesn’t have much of a smell though, which kind of disappointed me. I like a good smelly shampoo!
~Just Being Sexy Body Bronzer($6): At first I thought this was just another bronzer, but after a closer look, this appears to be a fancy bronzer! It smells good (yay) and from the test patch I did, it appears to be a great colo. I’mgoing to just go for it and try an entire packet tomorrow!
~Minxxette Brush Hanger($4.69): When I first saw this, I wrongly assumed it was a brush holder for like hairbrushes! Not so much. It’s for cosmetic brushes, which makes way more sense. You can stick this to a wall or mirror and then out your brush in it to dry. Probably much better for the brush than just rubbing out on paper towels to try it!
~Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Facial Cleanser($4.50): I tested this out tonight and I really liked it. You leave it on your face for 5 – 10 minutes while it works to cleanse your face. I love the waiting period on products like this. It makes me feel like they work better!
All totaled I came up with a value of $19.95 for the June Beauty Box 5. While it’s a value for the price ($12/month), I wasn’t wow’ed by it. I am excited about trying all the products in the and may stick around for July to see what they have in store for us. If they had a point system similar to Birchbox, I’l certainly be all over this box!!

I got the BB5 this month, too, but my contents were a little different. I also got the Shampoo/Conditioner and the bronzer, but instead of your brush hanger and facial cleanser, I received a Brazen cosmetics mineral eyeshadow (beautiful black shimmery color) and a sample of some Aveeno sunscreen (with coupon). This is my second month with BB5 and until reading your review I didn’t even realize they did multiple versions each month. I wonder if this is the first month they tried it?

I got this variation, too, though my Brazen eyeshadow was a really pretty shimmery purple. I also didn’t realize they had variations. It always looked like everyone got the same box in previous months.
I kind of wish BB5 would send a bigger variety of brands. This is my 5th month and I have so much Coolway, LA Fresh, and Brazen (to be fair, I do like the Brazen). I keep questioning whether I want to keep it after my second 3 month subscription is up next month.
I got the same box you did. It was ok . I think there a new company so I am also going to see what July going to be like
I got the black soap through Beauty Army, it is awesome. The only problem is it smells like smoke, the first time I used it I was sniffing around to figure out where the smoke smell was coming from!

I got this exact box. my first bb5 and I wasn’t at all wowed but hopefully july will be better! the brush holder seems a bit silly, hard to imaging cleaning just ONE brush at a time?
