B and I were lucky enough to receive a HelloFresh box to enjoy during our final Challenge free days and it was such a nice treat. B does all the cooking around here (I’m a lucky girl) and loves HelloFresh. Like he LOVES it. And I love eating the meals!
HelloFresh delivers via FedEx on Thursdays. I wasn’t home when the box arrived, but I got home shortly after. I decided to leave it on my porch for a few hours instead of popping everything into the fridge right away. I wanted to see how long everything would stay cool in the summer heat. I figure that not everyone is home to put it away and it’s important to make sure everything won’t be ruined if left out in the sun.
I am pleased to report that even after sitting on my porch all day (I bought it inside right before B got home from work so he wouldn’t yell at me), everything was in perfect condition. I could feel the coolness right when I opened the cooler. I was very pleased. We received the Classic Delivery, which included the following meals:
Golden Beet Pilaf with Chicken & Goat Cheese:
Okay, when I saw this I was all, beets? GROSS. Never would I ever order a meal with beets in it at a restaurant. Ever. In fact, I wouldn’t order most HelloFresh meals at a restaurant because they always seem so out there for me (before I try them).
Umm, this was DELICIOUS. Someone get me some beets because clearly I love them. B and I could not stop talking about how good this was. I usually also wouldn’t mix greens with rice, but it just worked. Hands down my favorite meal of the bunch.
Seared Steak with Tomato Salad:
We actually had this meal first because it sounds the most normal to me. Even though this is our 3rd (I think) HelloFresh box and I’ve always loved the foods way more than I expect to, I still pick the meals I *think* I will like best first.
This indeed was amazing. So good in fact that it has inspired our cucumber / onion and tomato salad eating during the Challenge. Again, totally not something I would have ever ordered at a restaurant, but I would now. B actually saves all of our HelloFresh recipes so we can recreate then down the road and I look forward to having this again! I think if he tweaked it a little this would be a nice clean meal for us now too!
Orzo Risotta with Buttery Shrimp:
I was actually kind of dreading this meal because I am not a big lover of shrimp (I like shrimp cocktail, but after that, meh) and I don’t really love mushrooms. I don’t totally hate either one, but I don’t love them either.
To my surprise, this was actually good! I won’t be dying for B to make it again, but if you subbed out the shrimp for chicken, OMG I’d be all over this. B ate his in about two seconds.
