Our June The The Happy Trunk arrived earlier in the week and we were happy (and surprised) to see it. I don’t know if it’s because I used a Plum District deal on this box or what, but I don’t even have access to an account online? I *think* this is the last month and I receiving it, but really who knows? I will wait and see what happens next month before I resubscribe!
The Happy Trunk ships via USPS and, like I mentioned before, just shows up on my mailbox. So it’s kind of hard to say it it ships quickly or not!
Craft subscription boxes, like The Happy Trunk (which brings you a carefully curated box filled with engaging hands-on projects and activities for kids ages 3-11.) often have kind of a meh first look because nothing is done. You can’t really tell if you are going to love it until you get more into the box!
The June The Happy Trunk theme was “Paint Party” and included three projects: Make your own personalized art smock, make a mini canvas painting and spin art. Here are the details:
Mini Canvas Painting:
The first project L worked on was the mini canvas painting. Painting it always a good time and L loved mixing the colors together to other colors like the card suggested. And I am pretty fond of the mini canvas itself. So cute!
I asked L what he had painted and he replied “a train” and “WB’s chair”. Umm, okay? He had fun though and that’s all that matters!
Personalized Smock
While L worked on the mini canvas painting, I decided to take on the personalized smock. I know L well enough to know that he is NOT going to wear this smock, so I used the stencils to make a cute flower design. I’m pretty pleased with my work and it was fun to sit at the table and craft with L.
Spin Art
The final (and messiest) project worked on was Spin Art. Basically you attached a piece of paper to a top, put it in the box and spun it. And then squeezed paint all over it!
L and I both did a spin art piece and I think we both went a little too crazy with the paint. And if you do this, you MUST do it in the box. Paint was splattering everywhere and the box contained it nicely. We still got it all over our hands, but that was a user issue ;).
I expect it to take a few days (at least) before this dries. So.much.paint.
Have More Art Fun!
The June The Happy Trunk “Have More Art Fun” project was Artists Cards. The blank cards are meant as a keepsake and The Happy Trunk suggests you date them and write your name on the back so you will always have them. I am going to totally have L one every few months so we can look back on the changes!
Once again, I impressed with The Happy Trunk! It’s $19.95/month and L and I enjoy it every month. I think if The Happy Trunk redid their website with some fancier pictures, people would be all over this box. For real!
What do you think of The Happy Trunk? If you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here. And if you want to subscribe, don’t forget to use the code “HT14S” to get your first box for only $14 or code “HT35″ to get 35% off your entire subscription!!!
I got to ask how many boxs do you get a mouth I never seen half of them … I used your code for the conscious box hope you get some love from that 🙂
This is SUCH a cute sub box and L looks freaking adorable holding his canvas so proud! I think you guys make the happiest and cutest kids in all the land!
?a train? and ?WB?s chair?
LOVE!!! Freaking cute.
I always know when The Happy Trunk is coming because I get billed and then I get it about two or three days later. I’m thinking they must be having an issue with their website because I couldn’t get logged on to my account the other day either. I LOVE this box!
I try to stick with just one kids box at a time, for budget reasons. We got little passports for awhile, then switched to kiwi crate. If we switch it up again, I would totally try this one. The projects look like a lot of fun.
