It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know these for sure could be defined as first world problems!
~I live in a new construction subdivision, so it’s no surprise there is, umm, new construction going on. They are building houses left and right over here. But this latest batch of construction crews, omg, they are bananas. First of all, they like to work and they work a lot! They start before 7am and seem to be their loudest at that time. Wait, maybe that’s because I am sleeping?? I’m sure the resolution to this would be to get up earlier huh? However, the real issue (to my neighbors anyways) is that they keep knocking the power out. It’s gone out twice in the last week. Yesterday I believe it was out for 4-5 hours?? Our lines are underground and they keep digging right into them. Oopsies. All around me yesterday, my neighbors were discussing the outages on FB (until their phones died anyways) and I was all huh? I live smack in the middle of them and my power was fine. So random. I’m certain I’ll get mine though.
~B STILL has that d*mn beard. It was hot last week, but now, I’m over it. Over it. Get rid of that thing already. Two nights ago I had a dream he shaved it and woke up ALL excited and reached over and rubbed his face. Totally woke him up. But did I care? No. Because the beard was still there!
~I have asked this before, but no one had an answer, so I’ll ask again. Does anyone know where I can get pictures (like back in the day when we’d actually have print pictures to see them), scanned and put on a disk? Like is there a company you know of that does this? My Dad asks me about this all the time, but I have no idea? I’d scan them in myself, but yeah, ain’t nobody got time for that!
~When I go somewhere (like the Post Office or redeeming lottery tickers or something) where I have a lot to do, I always feel so badly for the people behind me because I am going to be taking FOREVER. Do I let people go in front of me? I mean if there is one person and we walk in together and they have one thing, that’s a no brainer. But at what point do you stop letting people go in front of you? Or do you just say screw it, I waited in line too and I’m getting my stuff done?
~Detroit had their annual fireworks show last night and, as always, it was broadcast here locally. Even with the music they choreograph, I find them to be less than exciting on tv. I love fireworks. In person. But on tv? Meh. It’s just not the same. Does anyone else find this to be the case? Am I doing it wrong? Should I be watching in the dark with surround sound or something?
~And finally, the last trouble of the day is about Fancy Box. Oh Fancy Box, I don’t know what we need to do to get on the same page about the fact that you billed me 3 times and only sent me 2 boxes, but I’d like to get this settled pretty soon. Like today.
That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?
LOL @ the beard still being around. I’m telling you.. once it starts it doesn’t stop. You’ve seen my boy’s beard on instagram… it’s a slippery slope. you might be better off shaving it in his sleep. I’ve had zero luck even getting mine to TRIM his :-\
Re: digitizing photos: I just GTS and found a couple companies. I’ve never used them so I can’t speak to their quality though. What did you end up doing for your birthday? I agree – TV fireworks just don’t cut it, but the last 3 years I was able to watch the St. Louis fireworks from my apartment window so maybe I’m spoiled! Not this year though 🙁 My only trouble today (it’s still VERY early though…) was dealing with the look on my dog’s face when I left for work today. He really has a way of making me feel guilty. I wonder what he’s actually thinking!
I don’t know how good a company this is but here’s one I found online:

I don’t get fireworks on tv – it’s not very entertaining to me… fireworks are something you just have to be there for.
About the photos… around here (central new york) we have industrial color labs http://www.industrialcolorlab.com/index.html ….. they are just like the one known place that does that sort of stuff and I feel like everyone goes there. I’m thinking you have to have something like this where you are too?
I’m not sure I read it correctly lol but you can scan pictures at Walmart, CVS or even like Walgreens and have them either printed out or put onto a disk, or you can use your sd card and print them that way.
hi jen tell your dad to try costco… they have a fantastic photo service on line as well as in store and guess what.. i will b bummed if u already know… on costcos website u can now upload and print out your instagram pics… so exciting
I think you can take your pictures to Walgreens to get them scanned and put onto a disk. Actually any place like Walgreens that has a photo counter should be able to help you out. Not sure about the price though. Hope that helps!
Scancafe.com and scanmyphotos.com both have an option to mail in a box of photos and have them scanned, but they are pretty pricy, upwards of $120.
I believe snapfish has a photo scanning service.
IF you get that straight with the Fancy, Please me HOW you finally got them to see the light.. they keep saying i dont understand how subscriptions work… ummm….YES, i get a “few” subscriptions.. I think i understand but you just send boxes completly at random, not on a schedule and you OWE me boxes that i paid for… i really wish i didn’t like their boxes, but i do..i really do although until i clear all this up i am not getting more boxes

I’ve got a few Tuesday Troubles, like for one, how do I keep attracting rude people?!? A couple of weeks ago it was a lady approaching me at Panera telling me that I shouldn’t eat the brownie that I was eyeing because I’m already fat enough?!?!
And today it was the lady at the social security office that told me that I should give up my seat for her because I had been sitting for far too long!!!! Seriously?!?!!?
My mom had some photos transferred to dvd and I think she used this company. fotobridge.com

So I tried commenting a minute ago and apparently my comment was lost, lol, so I’m trying again…
I had a Tuesday Trouble for you but it was lost with my last comment, lol!
Really random, but I just saw this Groupon today for the scanning you mentioned. Pretty sure this is what you are talking about?

Tsk Tsk Fancy Box!! Maybe it’s cause I love sushi, but I love seaweed as a low calorie snack. We have them at work in another building, so when I make the trek to the other building I come back with tons of the stuff. But I can totally see how its weird.
@Sophia: And totally realized I meshed 2 comments from 2 different blog posts to this one. oops!
Do you have a local Ritz or Kits (maybe alternate spelling with z or s’)? Anyway, we had a Ritz and they had a box–like a decorative shoebox-ish thing…you buy the box for $59.99 then take it home and you could stuff if with actual pictures and take it cback and leave it and they’d put itnon a disk. All of this was included in the price of the box, and when we did it for my Gramma’s pics–I had hundreds of them in the box. They also have a frequent buyer card so you can get some of your $ back…but that may have been like $10/year.
I just sent all my picture stuff to Costco and they did it all. Even the VHS to DVD as well.
My summer bucket list includes swimming as much as possible and running.
I’m telling you…start withholding things until the beard goes haha.
Also- fireworks are not nearly as cool on tv as they are in person.
I scanned all my pics at a FedEx store and it got burned to a CD. Worked great and wasn’t expensive!
My friend is a rabid scrapbooker, and incredibly picky about photo quality. She will ONLY use Scan Cafe – www dot scancafe dot com, and Ditto Bee – www dot dittobee dot com. I’ve seen the quality from both, and they are good. I think Ditto Bee is a bit cheaper, though.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Shauna
When my husband first retired, typical fashion, he grew facial hair! After all those years of having someone tell him to shave, he decided he was going to be a badass! [*eye roll*] I hated it at first … but now? Three years later and I still hate when he shaves it off. He just looks so … STRANGE!
As for pictures on a disk — what about scanning them at one of those *shudder*Walmart machines? I know you loathe the place, understandably, but you can just buy the cd and have them all on there.
