Haute Look Summer Essentials Beauty Bag

Haute Look offers seasonal beauty bags on their site and while I usually pass, I thought the Summer Essentials one looked too good to pass up. It was $20 (plus shipping) and promised a crazy value so I figured why not?

The Box

Haute Look ships via UPS and it didn’t take too long for the bag to arrive. When my UPS man (I love him BTW) dropped it/them off I didn’t even know what it was. Just a plain old boring box!

Although I knew everything that was in it (Haute Look lists the contents and sizes on their website while it’s for sale), I was still excited to tear into it.  And once I did, I realized that the “polka dot” bag promised by Haute Look was actually a clear bag with a piece of navy and white polka dot cardboard it in.  This kind of annoyed me so I did an  online chat with Haute Look and they offered to refund me 20% of the cost of the bag.  Issue resolved!  If you didn’t know (and I didn’t until recently), Haute Look is owned by Nordstrom, which probably explains the stellar customer service.

The Information Card

I was pleasantly surprised that the Haute Look Summer Essentials Beauty Bag came with an information card.  For whatever reason I thought it would just be the bag.  You know how I love information cards, so I was happy.

Here is what the bag included:

~Blow Pro After Blow, Strong Hold Finishing Spray ($2.96): I love aerosol hair spray and  won’t use anything else.  This seems to hold well, but the rumors are true, it’s kind of smelly.  Don’t get me wrong, I will finish the can, but I wouldn’t buy the full size.

Blow Pro After Blow, Strong Hold Finishing Spray

~Lashfood Nano-Peptide Natural EyeLASH Conditioner ($9.41): This is such a pricey item that I would never buy it on it’s own without trying a sample first.  It’s suppose to provide the “appearance of longer, thicker, lashes and to transform frail and brittle lashes to become healthy and strong in 3-6 weeks”.  This sounds like am “I’m Totally Trying It” item for sure!

~L. Erikson Grab n’ Go Pony Compact ($7.20): I love the fun colors in this set and I love the little pony compact even more.  I can’t stand digging around in my bag for a hair tie (I usually wear one on my wrist, but sometimes I forget), so this is awesome. I feel more organized already.

L. Erikson Grab n’ Go Pony Compact

~L’Occitane Shea Hand Cream ($3.60): I love L’Occitane and think their hand cream is their very best product, so I am thrilled by this.  I need to use up the Pacific hand cream that’s in my bag now and this one is next.

L’Occitane Shea Hand Cream

~Diptyque Eau de Toilette Fragrance ($3.36):  I would describe this scent as a grassy floral smell.  Not that kind of grass, more like freshly cut lawn.  It smells okay on me, but I am going to give it to B to test out to see what he thinks.  Oh and I looked and the official description of the scent is “A generous, sensual, heady rose, blooming among the freshness of the stems, mossy and tart.”  I’d say that’s about right?

Diptyque Eau de Toilette Fragrance

~Whish Orange Cream Body Butter ($7.02): This is a Nordstrom exclusive and it smells amazing!  They have an “Orange Essentials Set” on sale for $24 right now as part of the Semi-Annual sale that I may have to take a closer look at!

~TanTowel Half Body Classic Self Tanning Towelettes ($2.40): I love TanTowels so this was also a great fit for me!  I actually should use them more than I do though.  Or maybe I should just save them for winter?

~Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Naked ($12.67): I still have a few lip pencils from other boxes I haven’t gotten to yet, so I think this will end up in the gift pile.  I do love Urban Decay stuff though.  But I can only handle so many eye liners and lip pencils.

~LORAC Special Effects Mascara in Black ($23): I tried this out real quick and I love it.  It doesn’t clump (I hate clumps) and really long lengthen my lashes, so this is probably my favorite item in the box.

~Crown Brush Travel Brush Set ($4.45): Nothing fancy, just a cute little brush set you wouldn’t feel awful if you left behind on a vacation.  I am putting this in my travel makeup bag and leaving it there so I don’t forget I have it!

Crown Brush Travel Brush Set

~Miracle 10 AHA Cream ($12.80): This is suppose to rejuvenate skin and I am all for that.  I think the sample is a great size too, so I’ll be able to get a fair amount of use out of this so I will be able to tell if I really like it.

Miracle 10 AHA Cream

~NYX Cosmetics Extra Creamy Round Lipstick (Vitamin) ($4): This seems more lip balm’ish than lipstick’ish to me, so I really like it.  The color is light but probably could be “thickened” up if applied a few times, but I am perfectly happy the way it is.

NYX Cosmetics Extra Creamy Round Lipstick

~Mirenesse Lip Bomb (#22) ($39): I believe the possible lip bombs were #20, #22, #27 or #30 and I am pretty happy with the one I received.  It’s not super crazy and is totally wearable.  I got Bomb #4 back in October’s ipsy and like this color bomb much better!

All totaled, the Haute Look Summer Essentials Beauty Bag had a value of $131.87!  A pretty good deal for only $20 (plus shipping / tax which made it like $30) if I do say so!

Sadly it’s not available anymore, but Haute Look always has great deals (I just got an order from last week’s Gorjana sale and they threw it a free razor which I was thrilled about), so if you want to start shopping or get signed up for e-mails so you can be ready when the Haute Look Fall Bag is announced, click here.

Ohhh, and I almost forgot!  I bought two bags so I could give one way, so if you didn’t get one (or just want another), enter below.
