Well what I thought was going to be a slow subscription box week has turned out to be not so slow after all! I’ve been receiving boxes daily (and loving it)! One of those boxes that appeared this week was the July Mama’s Got Mail! If you aren’t familiar, the idea behind Mama’s Got Mail is to help you feel encouraged and supported as a mom so that you can be the best woman you can be.
Mama’s Got Mail ships via USPS Priority Mail and arrives in boxes that are always the perfect size for what’s inside them.
I never have any idea of what to expect from Mama’s Got Mail, so I am always excited to open it and see what’s inside! Right away I was excited because I’ve had that chocolate before and it’s amazing!
I mention this every month, but unlike other boxes which contain only “things”, Mama’s Got Mail gives you tasks and wants you to put some thought into what is included in the package. This month’s theme is “Marriage & Stretch Marks”. The idea is spend some time assessing your marriage and see where you are stretching, what needs work, etc. Here’s what it included:
~The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work ($11.96): This book is written by a man who is the foremost leader in the scientific study of marriage. He claims to be able to tell if a couple will stay together after 5 minutes in his “Love Lab”. I am pretty sure we should read this book before getting this man’s assessment. LOL!!!!
~mama need Stretchy Deep Moisturizing Treatment with Argan Oil ($4.50): This product is brand new and was actually started by the sisters from the tv show Sister, Sister (which of course I used to watch). I somehow escaped babies without any crazy “marks” (certainly not because I watched what I ate or anything), but this smells yummy so I will use it.
~Olive & Sinclair Chocolate ($6.99): We received this same chocolate bar in a box a few months ago and it is amazing. The information card says that this was not included for any other reason than to send chocolate and I love it.
~The Gottman Institute Love Map Exercise – Asking Open Ended Questions ($15): I highly doubt that B and I are going to sit down one night and go over these questions one by one (he’d never be down for that), but I will certainly make it a point to ask a few of these every now and then. We did a few last night and really enjoyed it! It certainly can’t hurt to do these more.
All totaled, I came up with a value of $38.45 for the physical items in the July Mama’s Got Mail Box. As always, I can’t put a price tag on the workshop part of the box. This month’s personal self check-in (the worksheet potion) includes a “Blueprint of Your Marriage” and asks questions about the difference areas in your house and how they relate to your marriage.
What do you think of Mama’s Got Mail? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here. Subscriptions start at $39/month.
I will take that stretch mark cream and see if it really works 🙂 With each kid I have gotten more stretch marks.
Is the question “what is your partner’s ss#” really a question in that game? Just wondering because that is definitely not an open ended question! LOL
Not a mom but am married so I can see the pluses of this box. As for the Love Map cards, try maybe just a card a week (like on Mondays)….I used to do that with Trivial Pursuit cards and I’ve been meaning to get the Table Topics cards…but not as a game, just to once a week pull out a question for discussion (heck maybe even to put on the blog to see what my friends say).
That book was highly recommended to my husband and I by our marriage therapist a few years ago after my husband’s second of three back to back to back deployments. We still own it and refer to it to this day…and we’re still married so I guess it and the therapist were a success! 😉
I keep wanting to get this box! It seems fun.
I may have to get this box. It looks so fun! I just wish they would give a discount for the first box.
