Edited to Add: Carefree Crafts has closed their doors.
Our August Carefree Crafts package arrived earlier in the month, but I decided to save it until we were in desperate need of some activities. And that day came yesterday when it was raining. In case you aren’t familiar, Carefree Crafts is a monthly subscription service which delivers fun craft kits to your door every month (or a la carte). Carefree Crafts is perfect for preschool and elementary ages kids (aka L) ages 3-7. Subscriptions start at $12.50/month and contain five (or more) complete craft kits.
Carefree Crafts ships via USPS and arrives to me very quickly every month since I am in Michigan and they ship out of Michigan.
Carefree Crafts packages each individual craft in it’s own package so you can use do one at a time and not lose any pieces. And then all crafts are packaged in a larger ziplock bag.
The August Carefree Crafts theme was “Summer Fun” and includes six sun beach and ocean themed crafts.
~Paper Stained Glass: I worked on the paper stained glass while L worked on another project and I don’t quite know what I did wrong, but the rays of my sun didn’t go all the way around the circle. I do like the idea behind this though and plan to try and recreate something similar. Maybe a pumpkin for Halloween?
~Sandcastle Magnetic Photo Frame: L was all over this one and used a ton of glue. This is never coming apart. Ever. Never ever.
~Beach Sand Art: I don’t know who came up with this idea, but they are a genius. If you’ve never done one, it’s basically a giant sticker and you peel off sections at a time so that you can pour sand on just a section at a time. That way you have super cool sand art, without a huge mess. L loved it and probably could have done 10 of these yesterday. He was so into it.
~Fish Catch Game: This was another great project this month and L and I worked on this one together. I couldn’t land the fish in the fish bowl for the life of me. L of course did it on the first try. Grrr.
~Crab Headband: I don’t know what got into L yesterday (maybe it was the rain or the thought of glo-golfing later in the day), but not only was L into making this, he was also into wearing it while crafting the rest of the pieces.
~Lei: I didn’t think this was going to turn out well at all, but I should have know better. It was super easy to make and worked about fabulous. L even liked it!
Did you get Carefree Crafts this month? What’d you think? If you don’t subscribe and are interested in signing up you are totally in luck because they are still offering you the first month for only $5.95 if you use the code “SAVE60”! How awesome is that?? they should have given better instructions, i would asume that for the sun, you should have joined the two halves of the sun rays together first then put the orange circle above them. atleast thats what i get from the pic. still for a childs craft i think good directions are a must i would asume atleast.
So the sun rays? Should gone on the back side, then they could be closer to the center and you could still see the orange 🙂 Aren’t kids crafts fun to figure out sometimes?? LOL
Great kit!
