August Dottiebox, LLC

Dottiebox, LLC is a monthly subscription box full of handmade items from a wide variety of catagories including skincare, cosmetics, jewelry, etc. If it’s handmade, it could be included. Dottiebox aims to introduce you to artists you may not have heard about otherwise.

The Package

Dottiebox ships via USPS Priority Mail and seriously took a day to arrive. They are in OH (I don’t think I knew this before) and I am in MI, but I was still impressed.

The Box
First Look

I hadn’t seen any spoilers yet this month so of course I was anxious to see what was inside. Plus, I could smell something. It wasn’t a bad smell, more like a clean smell, but I couldn’t place it.

The Information Card

Dottiebox‘s information cards saves me the work of looking up prices, which I totally appreciate. They give you just the basics on the information card, but I still love it.

Adorable Packaging

I always feel so badly opening up items that I receive in Dottiebox. Everything is packaged so nicely – when they say that things are packed with love, they mean it. You can tell that the small businesses who participate with Dottiebox take great pride in their products!

~Fabled Soap Co. Handmade Laundry Soap Powder (Sample): Once I opened up the package and saw the laundry soap, the smell made complete sense. It smelled just like laundry soap! I went and read up on this soap and am now totally fascinated by the making of laundry soap. This would be an amazing Homegrown Collective project. You only need ½-1 tablespoons of this soap for your entire load, is made from natural and vegan ingredients and is safe for baby and sensitive skin. Fingers crossed laundry soap making is in my future because I think I am in love!

~Poppy & Elle Handmade Hair Ties ($4.20): These are probably the cutest hair ties I have ever received. The chevron is my favorite, with the ruffled one a close second. I know everyone says you can make these yourself, but I also know that I never will! Knowing me, I would buy all the stuff, make them once and end up with a giant pile of elastic in my house.

~Adam Rabbit Earrings ($15): Adam Rabbit is a collection of handmade, modern jewelry, made from raw crystals, stones, clay, and pieces of wood. I didn’t know what they were made from at first, but now it’s obvious that they are made from a piece of crystal! They remind me of snowballs.

~Pure Palette Lemongrass Lavender Soy Candle ($3.50): I totally love candles and love Lemongrass scented things, so this is a total hit. And this little candle has a burn time of 15-22 hours.

~Karol’s Handmade Soap Solid Lotion Bar ($5): I was so excited about this because I just made my own lotion bar yesterday! I mean, this one has a much fancier design, but it’s the same idea. I think lotion bars are going to be a new staple for me. I really like how they moisturize.

All totaled, the August Dottiebox had a value of $27.70. Boxes are $20/month ($26/month including shipping), but Dottiebox doesn’t bill itself as having an amazing value. Yes, you certainly save money (as you would be paying extra for shipping if you ordered each item individually), but the idea is to “meet” some new products and businesses you wouldn’t have otherwise heard of.

Do you subscribe to Dottiebox? What’d you think of this month’s box? And if you ordered when Dottiebox did their Christmas in July sale, what’d you get in that box?? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
