Yay! My August Goodies Box arrived today and I couldn’t have been more pleased. It almost didn’t arrive, but happily the mail lady did another circle around my block and ran it up to the door after she’d originally came by with the mail. Goodies Box supplies me with, among other things, great items for L’s muffin tin meals. And soon, I will get to use them for special lunch box treats!
Goodies Box (which is a WalMart Labs company) changed the size of their boxes. They used to ship in larger boxes no matter what was inside, but now they are using boxes that better fit the size of the items in the box, which I appreciate. Goodies ships via FedEx Smart Post which isn’t the speediest method ever, but I am guessing it’s super economical! It took an extra long time this month, as did lots of my other SmartPost items.
Goodies has done away with information cards and also, it appears that they have done away with themes. That kind of disappoints me since they used to have great themes. Moving on, here is what was in our box this month:
~Southern Pecan by Barnie’s Coffee: Meh. I am not overly excited by a cup of instant coffee, but that might be because I like my coffee frappe style? I’ll give this to B and have him take it to work.
~Poplets – Sea Salt & Butter by Rocky Mountain Popcorn: I’ve had something similar to Poplets, but never Poplets. They are tasty like suckers and now I want to try the Ranch ones!
~Hershey’s Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix by General Mills: I am probably most excited for this. L and I made cookies yesterday (for the first time in a while) and had such a good time. And well, I won’t lie, these look delicious.
~Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie by General Mills: This is probably totally weird, but L loves these things. Like loves them. He usually has them up-north so he’ll be surprised to see it in the house.
~Granola Thins – Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter by Nature Valley: I *think* I’ve had these before or gotten a sample somewhere (Costco maybe) and enjoyed them. I do recall them being good, but a tad messy?
~Mott’s Medley’s Assorted Fruit Snacks by General Mills: Ahh, fruit snacks. Kids love them (and I think B does too) and we always have some in the house. Certainly not the healthiest snack out there, but we could do worse.
~Tangy Zangy Twisties – Wild Berry by Morris National Inc.: These came in our Goodies Kids box last month and were a huge hit. They are a special treat for sure and L will love seeing these in his lunchbox. Sort of OT, but does anyone else “practice” for back to school? I am giving L different containers, bags, etc. everyday for lunch to make sure I know what he can open and what he can’t. I don’t want him to be sitting there hungry at lunch at school while he’s waiting for help opening things.
If you don’t get Goodies Co., you should totally consider it. It’s $7/month and and includes “5-8 delicious new foods hand-picked and delivered directly to your doorstep”. You might not like everything that’s in it, but at least you gave it a try! They also have a new Kid’s Box which is also only $7!
Did you get a Goodies box this month? What’d you think? What box number did you get and what was inside? If you are interested in signing up or just want to learn more, click here. You can use coupon code “PSsJ6kXrP” to score a free box (Kid’s or the original Taster’s Box)!
I really wish I received the cookie mix instead of the eye health juice. Maybe I need to change my profile to say I have kids. I’m also thinking eye health juice is geared toward people older then in their 30’s but oh well. I guess I’ll get an early start.
I did not receive the cookie mix – would have been great to have a full-sized product.
I did receive just some little samples:
8oz bottle of OJO fortified eye care nectar – mango blackcurrent
1.25 oz bag Snyders naturals garden veggie crisps
Pronto Hawaiian Hazelnut liquid coffee brewstick – single serve sample
.5 oz Tangy Zangy Twisties sour wild fruit
poplets toasted corn sea salt and butter – Tiny pack labeled FREE SAMPLE
Cosumi Salty Sweet cookie crackers – trial size
That sounds like the same box we got, though I don’t remember the last item. I was bummed – I totaled it and guessed the box was worth about $4. I have been happy with the former boxes, but this was sort of a joke. The packaging was worth more than the product.
@Katie:
Yep. Same here 🙁
@Frances Seybold: I received this same box as well.
I was getting excited about the cookie mix, lol!
I was supposed to have the same box but it was the smaller side section of the box that was empty. I’m hoping they send me replacements because those items look good.
This month looks great! We will be saving them for school lunches as well 🙂
I originally signed up for Goodies on August 12th and received an email that I was in line for a box. I checked my status right now and basically a similar message that I was registered and in line to receive an invitation to order a box.
Sooooo, I used your link and promo code right now, using my same email address/account as previously and received an invitation to order immediately. 🙂
I wish I got this box! Ours was disappointing. We got:
-Aloe and honey water
-Veggie sticks
-Ranch flavored sunflower seeds
-Twisters gummies
-Poplets
-Coffee sample
We couldn’t eat the Poplets because they were too hard for us(we each ate one and then threw the rest away) and we don’t drink coffee. The Twisters were good but it was a super small sample. I changed my profile to say I have kids so hopefully we get a better box next time.
I would have loved to get your box – especially the cookie mix and brownie! I got an open package of Poplets, aloe juice, veggie crisps, cookie crackers, liquid coffee, and the sour twists.
@Michelle R: This is what I got in my box. There is a big difference between this and what Jennifer got.
We got the same box as you. The twizzler things were a hit with Miss bean, as were the fruit snacks. The coffee was pretty good but the cookies….oh dear. Let’s just say ours tasted a lot better than they looked. I think I mixed it a little too long.
I was soo disappointed with my box! I really wanted to get atleast one full sized item, but didnt. Instead of the cookie mix I got a small snack sized bag of veggie crisps. I don’t think that’s comparable at all. Along with that I got 4 little samples. Didn’t get anywhere near the 7 dollars I spend on the box. Hoping next month will make up for it.
Man…my box sucked in comparison. I guess the “full size” I got was the nasty “eye” nectar juice. And then 5 teeny packets of things. At the very least they should put equal numbers of items in boxes…I got 6 small things and you got 7 with a substantially sized product. Sadly it seems like the more they change the more some people are getting less than great boxes in comparison to others. But I guess it’s 7 bucks so I can’t complain too much…but I will! :p
I really miss the old style of goodies box where you got a lot more and more grown up items. This new smaller box is not making my heart soar the way the older bigger one did.
We got the same box as you and I have to say I was pretty excited about the cookies…can’t wait to make them…Also my kids were SO excited by this box they tore into it before I could even take pics….you know my son ABSOLUTELY LOVES, and I mean LOVES, those fiber one bars too…I also thought it was weird but there must be something about them…the look on his face when he saw it in the box was funny..he grabbed it said thanks and ran off…it was gone in seconds….
Wait, people get different boxes? I’ve been a subscriber since the beta and never knew that, LOL! I received everything as described…but I’m not as pleased. I may be in the minority here, but I didn’t like getting items that were clearly taken from a larger box and said “not labeled for individual resale,” or that actually said “free sample” plainly on it. Almost everything in my box went into the trash, and so did my subscription. I’m so disappointed because Goodies was my favorite sub until the last few months.
Got the same box. Had JUST bought and used a box of cookie mix for my Slutty Brownies the day before so now I know I can make more of my brownies!
I love when I get little free samples of coffee. Not because I’d actually make coffee with them but I use them for baking. Some recipes call for a teaspoon of instant coffee or even just a fourth of a cup of strong coffee. Though I would love the excuse to run to my favorite coffee shop to get some, I usually just go to my stash of these little samples and have no qualms wasting half a cup of that coffee when I’m using it in a sauce or something (mocha cupcakes with a bit of coffee added to the mix instead of water…yum….)
I keep thinking Goodies is about to close down as a) I signed up for the Kids’ box just before the June 24 deadline, but I’m supposed to get the September box as my first box, and I’ve heard nothing about it yet, and b) everything in their store is 20-50% off, and they aren’t restocking. I’ve been getting the adult boxes since the beginning and they used to be better, but they’re still fun so I’ve kept up my subscription. Anyone else worried about closing?
We got the same box you did. We did not like the poplets and threw them out, and we’re not coffee drinkers, so this box was just meh for us. My kids liked the fruit snacks, and can’t wait to try the cookies, though.
I got the same box with the bottle of eye juice in it. I along with the rest of you think I will be changing my profile to read have kids- i do have kids but they are in their late 20’s and have grandkids.. so it would be fun to have made the cookies with them..
Some of the things i have gotten from goodies have been either really great or completely awful, doesn;t seem to be an in between.
I got junk compared to this, this month. I am starting to lose faith in the Goodies boxes. They seem to include less stuff and there isn’t much I want in them anymore. Maybe because I don’t have kids, they think I want all of the vegan stuff. I might cancel and get something else instead.
Wow, ok so I don’t feel bad now. I thought I was the only one. Yeh my box kinda sucked this month. Would’ve enjoyed the cookie mix. Def changing my profile later.
I also did not know there were difference boxes!
I got the eye juice (really? eye juice?), ranch sunflower seeds, veggies chips, fruit twists, instant coffee packet, and the popcorn kernels. Eh were my feelings when I opened it.
Same here as with many other folks. .. no full sized products except the eye juice and the samples were a complete joke this month. I had been talking Goodies up to my friends. ..I sure hope none of them got this as their first box or they’re going to think I was pulling their leg about what a great service this is. Quickly moving past disappointed toward annoyed at this point. It seems that you only get a good box your first month to get you hooked. .. or if you’re one of their official reviewers of course. I suspect that has a lot more to do with whether you get a decent box than whether you have kids. ..I mean those sour fruit twists are definitely for kids and I don’t have any.
Anyway, giving them another couple of months to get their act together and then unsubscribing… if they’re even still in business by then.
The August box was my first Goodies box, and I was super excited when it finally came. Then I opened it. I got the same box with the eye juice that most people have been describing here, so needless to say I was disappointed. The eye “juice” is a dietary supplement which I wasn’t very happy about receiving (I didn’t like the warning “if any adverse reactions occur, consult your doctor” – it didn’t seem like an appropriate product for a food box). That must have been the full size product, but I definitely would have preferred the cookie mix. I also didn’t like the “free sample” label on one of the products (I believe it was the Poplets) which someone mentioned above.
I recently bought some chocolate bars from Goodies (one of their sale products), and about a week or so later I received an email asking me to throw some of them away because some customers found mold on the bars. They provided a refund for the bars and gave me 75 points, but I find that a little bit shocking. I’ll wait to see what is in the next box, but I’m considering canceling.
I got the box with the aloe drink. it was my free box, so I’m going to give it another shot… but if this is what all mine end up being I won’t be a subscriber for long!!
They just forgot to send my box this month man I want the cookie mix! =( guess I’ll just have to go buy some =)
None of the promo codes i use to get an invitation ever work :'(
