My August Wantable Makeup Box wasn’t scheduled to arrive until today, so when it magically appeared in my mailbox on Saturday, I was thrilled! Wantable is a monthly cosmetics subscription box (they also offer an accessories box) and includes 4-6 full-size products, hand-picked from unique, specialty, and premium brands to perfectly fit your style. Boxes start at $36 and are valued at between $80-$100 each month!
Wantable ships via USPS and arrived to me very quickly. Unlike most subscription boxes, if you don’t like your Wantable box, you can RETURN it! No, seriously! If you aren’t happy, all you need to do is go into your account, click the little person that gets you to your Dashboard, scroll down to Order History and then click on the “Return Items” text under that month’s box. You’ll answer some questions (about why you didn’t like the items) and then you will be given a prepaid return label. That’s it. Oh and you can also “skip” months with Wantable if a monthly box just seems like too much product or whatever for you.
I can’t been tell you how excited I was by the first look! I saw some great brands in there and there was one item I couldn’t wait to get my hands on!
Wantable has the most thorough questionnaire of any box out there. You tell them what products you “Love”, “Like” and “Dislike” and they will send you more of your “Love” items than your “Like” items, but they will never send you any of your “Dislike” items. You also give color preferences, etc. in your profile. I included mine above in case anyone was wondering what I picked this month (you can update your profile as needed).
Since boxes are customized to you, the information card is printed and is not on heavy cardstock or anything. I’m just happy they have one! And the information card also lists retail prices on the items which I think is great! The August Wantable box expert this month is Matthew Ambrosio, who is a New York based international beauty expert and professional makeup artist. Featured brands this month include FACE Stockholm, Bésame Cosmetics, WhipHand Cosmetics, Au Naturale, Michael Marcus, and Japonesque! My selected items were as follows:
~FACE Stockholm Bronzer (#3 Capri): This is the item I was SO interested in. I so totally wanted it to be bronzer and I almost couldn’t believe that it really was. I don’t believe that I have ever gotten a bronzer like this before and bronzer is one of my holy grail products! This shade is perfect for me too, which I am also thrilled about!!! This was a complete home run for me.
~WhipHand Cheek Flash (Beachhouse) ($18): I haven’t heard of WhipHand but think this blush is fabulous. And I decided to do a little research on WhipHand (for some reason I love reading the back stories on smaller companies) and it turns out that WhipHand is a DETROIT company! Listen Detroit has it’s troubles (as you have likely heard about on the news), but there are also amazing things going on in Detroit, like this! I love that I learned about a new Detroit company from a subscription box!
~Rainbow Honey Nail Laquer (Mint Flavor) ($10): I received a polish from this line last month which I loved and this is an amazing color as well, with just the right amount of shimmer in it.
~Brazen Cosmetics Loose Eyeshadow (Buzzed) ($18): This shadow is a lot darker than my picture shows and is a actually a nice dark brown (like a coffee color – get it buzzed – caffeine – coffee – at least I think that’s the reference). It’s a great color and I love that Brazen is also a Michigan company!
~FACE Stockholm Nail Polish (#164) ($12): More polish? Yes please! This is best described a as grey-ish blue shimmer and I don’t think I have any like it at all. I put love nail polish in my profile, but disliked sheer / pale polishes so I think this was a great selection for me. It went on nice and smooth and I was impressed by the coverage in just one coat.
~Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme (Sample): I actually received the full size of this in my July Wantable box and let me tell you, it’s fabulous!! I on’t know if you can tell from the picture, but the sample includes two colors (Sunrise Peach and Vert Enchante). The only thing that could have made it better would have been if all six colors were in here to try!
All totaled I came up with a value of $88 for my August Wantable Makeup Box, which is well over twice the cost of the box! I think that is might be my most favorite Wantable box to date. I think the items were matched perfectly for me and the inclusion of two Mcihigan made brands just pushed it over the top for me.
