I totally hemmed and hawed about ordering the Birchbox for CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) boxes and probably had them in and out of my cart a half dozen times. The combination of the 15% off code, the free shipping and my Birchbox points finally pushed me over the edge. It had to be done.
I’m going to review both boxes in the same post, but I won’t bore you with the shipping information or the first looks. Birchbox had the contents of the box listed before you ordered, so there were no real surprises.
Prestige Headliners:
The CEW Prestige Headliners Collection box is filled with prestige finalists and winners from the 2013 CEW Beauty Awards. It’s described as the Oscars of the Beauty world.
The CEW box was just like a normal Birchbox, except with a fancy patterned pink top to it. Oh and it didn’t have a chevron print on the inside.
Happily, the CEW box had an information card. I certainly could look the product information up online, but this is much easier. Here is what was in the Prestige Headliners box:
~Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Trip Defense Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50: I am super excited about this. It’s supposed to correct past sun damage (which I have a lot of) and fine lines, while also protecting against today’s enviornmental factors. This is something I would want to try, but I’d never buy it without testing it first because it’s so expensive, so this is great.
~IT Cosmetics Brow Powder Universal Brow Pencil: Brow powder / pencils, eyeliner and lip liner are all about the same to me. I used can’t use them up fast enough. Not to mention that I do not want to draw any attention to my eyebrows at all. They are a disaster zone. For real. I need to get them waxed before a state of emergency is declared.
~Julep Essential Cuticle Oil: This was one of the reason I got the box. I love Julep’s cuticle oil and would have eventually bought more when I ran out anyway. I feel like I paid for this and the rest of the box was free!
~Julep Nail Color (Jackie): For some reason I thought everyone would get the color in the picture (you think I’d know better by now), but the boxes had variations. I already have Jackie, but at this point, I don’t know what Julep polish they could have sent that I don’t have yet.
~LA Fresh Eco-Beauty Oil-Free Face Cleanser, Scented: I love face wipes and LA Fresh is one of my favorites. Happily I get lots of face wipes in all my subscription boxes so I never have to buy any!
~Living Proof Prime Style Extender: This is suppose to “keep your hairstyle going twice as long”. While I don’t really have a hair style that needs to keep going, I’ll give it a try and see what happens. It can’t hurt right?
The Birchbox for CEW Prestige Headliners collection cost $18 and was a $64 value. I trusted Birchbox on this value because they are usually right on with their values.
Mass Appeal:
Like the Presitge Headliner collection, The Mass Appeal collection is a selection finalists and winners from the 2013 CEW Beauty Awards. Only these are, well, mass market favorites.
The Mass Appeal box is the same as the Prestige box, except it’s orange.
And yes, there was an information card with this box too. The Mass Appeal box included the following:
~Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream: I love Burt’s Bee and I am going to save this for winter when my hands need it most.
~L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow (Iced Latte): I don’t know if there were any color variations with this one, but I am thrilled with this color. It’s the perfect amount of shimmer and color without being too much.
~Nivea A Kiss of Olive Oil & Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care: Love this! I’ve never tried this flavor so I opened it right away and tested it and was very pleased.
~Olay Pro-X Spot Fading Treatment: I am still looking for an amazing spot fading treatment and maybe this will be it? Or maybe it’s just because I don’t use them long enough. I am guessing that’s it.
~Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (Crush): I received this in my February PopSugar in a different color and I loved it and this color is even better.
~Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On: I had no idea such a product existed and it’s exactly the sort of thing I have been looking for. I like those cucumber slice things for tired eyes, but let’s be real, if I had 30 minutes to sit with cucumber slices on my eyes, I probably wouldn’t be that tired in the first place. I’ve tested this out a few times and I LOVE it. It cools the skin and really does reduce puffiness. I think I found a new holy grail product!
The Birchbox for CEW Mass Appeal collection cost $12 and was a $49 value and I feel like I was more into this box than the Prestige Headliners one!
Sadly, both of these boxes are sold out at Birchbox, so if you didn’t already buy one, it’s too late. I haven’t peeked in the boxes to see what variations in colors you’ll be getting, so it will be a complete surprise to the winner!
