As you know, I had a garage sale this weekend (I’ve only been talking about this for the last 3 months). I’ll give more of a breakdown on it later, but I am very overall pleased by how it went! For now, I want to know, do you haggle on garage sale prices or do you just pay the sticker price and be on your way?
Personally when I go to garage sales or flea markets (which isn’t that frequently, but it does sometimes happen) I just pay whatever price it says on the tag and move along. If the person happens to give me a deal, all the better, but I never ask. But I know tons of people do and tons of people did at our garage sale. And unless they said something too crazy, I usually just went with it. I was having a garage sale to get rid of my stuff, not to fight about $1. But then again, if it’s marked $20 and you offer $2, I’d rather just donate it and take that tax right off!
So what do you do? Try and negotiate? If you do, do you just randomly pick a number or do you have a system (like always offer half of what the asking price is). Or just go along with the sticker prices and if you think it’s too much, just pass on the item?
