~We’ve been up-north these past few days, but are headed home(*) today. L is staying a few more days though since he loves it up here. Up-north wore me out this weekend! All this fresh air is too much for this girl. This weekend was the annual “Timberfest” in town, which was basically a big carnival with inflatables, log cutting exhibitions, a 10K, and various other activities. I have been coming up here for years and have never seen that many people in town. It was crazy!
~Since a few people asked yesterday about Hobo Pies when I posted them on Instagram, I will explain what they are. It’s two pieces of bread made with whatever filling you want. We did pizza ones last night which had cheese, pepperoni, sausage and pizza sauce. You butter the outsides of the bread and put them in the hobo pie makers (we use ones like these) and then cook them over the fire. You can pretty much put whatever filling you want in it. Even desserts – like apple pie filling, cherry pie filling, etc.
~I am expecting a bunch of boxes this week including Stork Stack, PopSugar, Carefree Crafts, Bonjour Jolie, Dottiebox and the JLH Fancy Box (that’s waiting for me at home). I guess that’s not really a bunch is it? Hopefully some surprises will show up as well! I do have reviews still coming for For the Makers, The Homegrown Collective and Hello Fresh. Those take me a bit longer because I like to do the projects before I review them. Oh and I still have a review coming for B’s The Trunk Club.
~I am working on a lists of subscription boxes you can try for free (or at least for cheap), as well as, a list of monthly subscription boxes that you can skip. Except to see those later today! I’m going to add it to one of the toolbars above too so you can easily access the lists at any time.
~My “Month of Giveaways” started over the weekend! Like I’ve mentioned before I am giving away various prizes this month instead of one big prize. So far I am giving away the Birchbox for CEW boxes and Haribo Smurf Gummies. I am hoping to have a new giveaway up every other day or so this month, so be on the lookout! I’ve got an assortment of “stuff” including Ray-Ban sunglasses, Stella & Dot goodies and more.
~Thank goodness I looked yesterday because the Nordstrom Semi-Annual Sale ended last night! I thought it ended today and was going to wait until after I got home to order. Thank goodness I didn’t. I picked up some North Face jackets for the boys, which I will ONLY buy during their sales. I should have gotten them some boots too, but I didn’t even think of it. Boo!!!
~And finally, I spent some time while up-north updating the subscription box list. I’ve added a few new boxes I have just heard about, updated for ones I know have closed (The Little Book Club and the Little Fox are two I can think of off the top of my head), etc.
