My September Julep Cityscapes Collection arrived today and it was a nice distraction from thinking about what L was doing at school (aka what he was doing without me).
September is the last month that Julep is using Priority Mail for shipping ;(. I believe that they are switching to DHL Global Mail beginning in October and will be shipping from both coasts instead of just from Seattle. I am sad about this because Priority Mail is fast (though my box didn’t arrive as scheduled this month) and, well, DHL is slow. We’ll see how next month goes before I get annoyed about it though!
I don’t know what got into me this month, but I not only upgraded to the full collection (AGAIN), I also filled all my add-on slots!
The September Julep theme was the “Cityscape Collection” and was inspired by the lights of the city! Oh, and I should mention that this was the first month the mavens received Julep’s new polish packaging. I certainly don’t hate it (I think it’s cute), but it’s also kind of unnecessary. I’m going to through it out in about two seconds, so I don’t really know what it adds for me?
Here’s what was included:
~Julep Florence (Classic With a Twist) ($11.20): Florence is a classic camel crème and really isn’t my color at all. It’s too similar to not wearing polish for me. Now, maybe some glitter would make it a fabulous and I will try that, but it’s not a color I am loving.
~Julep Padma (Classic With A Twist) ($11.20): Padma is a royal plum crème and I LOVE it! It’s dark and shiny, which are two things I love in a polish. I need to remember to use a good base coat though because I sometimes I have problems with Julep’s darker shades staining my nails.
~Julep Karmen (Bombshell) ($11.20): Karmen is a golden crimson microglitter and is one of my favorite Julep polishes ever. It’s even more beautiful in person than in my horrible pictures.
~Julep Kristy (Boho Glam) ($11.20): Kristy is a midnight blue crème and is another one of my favorites from this collection. It’s the perfect navy polish and will be a go to this fall / winter!
~Julep Tatiana (Boho Glam) ($11.20): Tatiana is a golden burnt orange microglitter and I am picturing this in combination with Kristy in, oh, so October when my Detroit Tigers are in the world series ;).
~Julep Daria (Bombshell) ($11.20): Daria is dark slate grey crème and I don’t think I have any polishes like this? I need to get B to hang my nail polish racks so I can better track these things!
~Julep Josephine (It Girl) ($11.20): Josephine is a deep teal grey crème and is actually JUST the color I was looking for a few weeks ago when I was doing this mermaid inspired nail look. I had the perfect mermaid glitter, but couldn’t find the perfect green, but not green, but ocean like, but not blue polish. I think this is it!
~Julep Catrina (It Girl) ($11.20): Catrina is a marigold yellow crème now brings my collection of yellow polishes to at least half a dozen. That’s a lot of yellow polish!
~Julep Candace (It Girl) ($11.20): Candace is a golden chocolate microglitter and basicaly love it because of the glitter! It reminds me of sandpaper, but in a good way.
~Julep Reece (It Girl) ($11.20): For some reason I thought this was strictly an add-on and didn’t take a picture of it?? It’s a holographic shimmer and of course I love it. It’s reminds me more of outer space than of the city, but I love it either way!
~Julep Blank Canvas Mattifying Face Primer ($22.40): I am more of a BB cream girl, but on those rare (super rare) occasions I do want to do a full face of make-up, I will give this a try. I’ll actually probably end up wearing it alone too, because I do like that it absorbs shine!
~Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil ($22.40): I am loving this! DHC makes an oil cleanser that I love and this is very similar. I have only used it once, but I liked the way it left my skin feeling and the smell is great too.
~Julep Konjac Sponge ($9.60): I don’t know how necessary this is, but I think it’s very fun. I’m going to try this for the next 2-3 months and see how it compares to my clarisonic.
This month’s add-on was a nail polish remover pad which wasn’t all that exciting. But looking at pictures of the full collection is, so I am including that again ;).
All totaled the September Julep “Cityscapes” full collection had a value of $166 and that’s using Maven pricing! Regular boxes are $19.99/month and it’s only an additional $30 ($35?) to upgrade to the full collection. So all of this for $55? Now that’s a deal!!!
Did you get a Julep Maven Cityscapes box this month? What was your favorite color in the box and what collection did you opt for? If you are interested in signing up, or just want to learn more, click here. And, as always, you can use code “FREEBOX” to score your first box free (you pay shipping which I think is $3.99). If you want to see if how you like the Julep colors / formulas, this is the best way!
